ParticipantPersona -trinity soul- An anime that is supposedly a sequel to Persona 3. I found out about it here at Fansub TV. Note, they only host unlisenced in North America anime.

ModeratorYeah, I saw the first episode of that the other day. Pretty neat stuff, I’ll have to catch up on it soon.
As a side note, all the Persona games are supposed to be taking place along the same timeline. I think P3 takes place in 2009… P1 took place in 2004 or something. Not many intersections… yet… but several references here and there. I doubt the series will get as interconnected as the Suikodens, but it’s still pretty neat.

ParticipantI don’t know if it’s canon that P3 is connected to the other ones, the only references I remember is that the Kirijo Group split from the "Nanjo Group" and that party members from the older games get mentioned (via description) on the interview segments on TV.
By the way, Persona 4 was announced recently. There should be a trailer up on YouTube for it already. Looks pretty good.

KeymasterYa I saw some details and screens of P4. I need to do a blog post about it.
I like that it’s out of town and in the countryside. Sounds like an interesting change…

ParticipantI assume you mean Persona 2: Eternal Punishment? I’ve beaten it before. It’s a good game, but there’s quite a lot different between it and P3. P2 is more of a standard RPG, and also a little tougher.

KeymasterYea those first two Persona games are much more standard RPG than P3, but still have similar things like the appearance of Personae of course…I remember Niahak saying Persona 2 was quite the challenging game. He probably has more info for you :)

ModeratorI don’t have a whole lot more other than that, actually.
I’d say P2 is more than a little tougher than P3… I died to every boss at least once before beating them. Standard attacks are pretty much worthless, and special combo attacks with personae are the way to go.
It is definitely more standard RPG fare than P3, though. I’ve been planning to try it again for years.

ParticipantP2 was really hard, I think P1 was close, especially if u tried to get chris ( the cool) kid and u had to go through the school dungeon with 4 characters. whoo that was a bitch
March 24, 2008 at 4:28 am #23824Niahak
ModeratorP1 got tougher towards the end. Getting Chris is kind of rough, yeah, but once you get him he’s really useful. Strong "sword" attack and the best rifles as well. Only Ellen came close in usefulness, and Chris generally gets more useful personae.
I really had problems at the very last dungeon, because it was 8 floors and nasty enemies. Harder even than any dungeon in Phantasy Star 2… I think every enemy reflected something. I remember more than once I tried out a gun attack with Nate and… *reflect* *reflect* *reflect* *reflect* *reflect* my entire party takes 100 damage. Then of course there’s no savepoint anywhere in the dungeon. If I’d lost to the boss I probably would have just given up rather than take 2 hours to try and get there again.
