ModeratorHow should we handle Huo Hu awards for 2012? There aren't many mods that were completed or have had major updates in 2012. The ones I know of are:
Completed and Released:
Rise of Ieyasu
Major Updates:
Yuan Shao's Revenge
Rise of Lu Bu
Mods near completion:
Flames of Wu?
Tyrant Dong Zhuo?
nanman mod?
Liu Biao mod?
Jin Xuan?
If we only end up with 3-4 eligable mods then it might make sense to open the voting up to older mods again.
So our poll options are:
– Only vote on mods released or majorly updated in 2012 – self explanatory
– All mods ever made are eligible (again)
– All mods ever made eligable but can't win category 2 years in a row – ie…if Yuan Shao won best portraits in 2011 it would not be eligible to win in 2012 but any other mod would be.

ModeratorWell, I know that with movies, people aren't giving awards to Casablanca in 2012, so that would be the logic to not giving awards to previous incarnations/mods from previous years. On the other hand, having new mods competing versus the older mods might continue to get the word out on mods people haven't had the chance to play yet, so that's a plus.
Granted, lets say some new mod just isn't quite up to snuff as mods other people have made, and instead of being compared on its own merit, its being compared to other mods made years ago, so some mods would never really have that time to 'shine' standing in the shadow of the Jin Xuan mod… Granted, the sheer lack of mods this year might just make it a weak competition to have 3 or 4 mods competing for all the votes. That wouldn't be too fun
Just my 2 cents.

ModeratorI'm thinking that since there are so few new or updates mods in 2012 that we should open it up to all mods again. Then previous winners and runners up will have automatic nominations in each category + new nominations.
It's a "knock off the champ" type of concept.
Another question is will Flames of Wu be eligible for 2012? It would have to be released by end of year and even then not many would have a chance to play it before voting. It's top competition would probably be Rise of Ieyasu.

ModeratorIf it comes out in 2012, it's eligible for Huo Hu Awards 2012.
Even if it comes out at 11:58 PM on December 31st.

ModeratorIt probably won't be out by 2012, then again, who would want to be competing against themselves anyways??
One mod is enough for a year, two is just nuts, three… and I would have to admit that my social life is non-existant

Moderator…I'd submit the RoTK2 stats & names fix, but it's a RoTK2 mod not a DoaE mod…
[ultratiny]Also it seems almost nobody here played it…[/ultratiny]

ModeratorActually, I gave it a whammo, unfortunately due to my minor exposure to the original DOAE2, I couldn't tell the difference between the two, sorry.
However, it was an enjoyable ROTK experience :)

ModeratorAha!
The differences: (1) stat changes and (2) every force is selectable now.
It tends to cause Yuan Shao (and/or sometimes even Cao Cao!) to crash and burn, whereas Kong Rong, Wang Lang, and especially Liu Yao are no longer guaranteed to utterly collapse.

ModeratorI remember playing Ghengis Khan II, and it seemed that you were always guaranteed victory if you NEVER watched a battle, even attacking with maybe 1 or 2 units you would always win, but if you actually PLAYED the battle, you were almost guaranteed to lose and/or suffer major casualties. It totally nerfed the game.
