A friend was asking me about this earlier, and to be honest I haven’t done any research into just what happened with the back-compatibility. I know it’s all software-based now but that’s about the limit of my knowledge. I’m curious about it myself because I may get a PS3 if the price gets more reasonable.
Sony’s site looks like a good resource for individual games, but have any of you tried many games? How is it overall? Can you "mimic" the PS1/PS2 memory cards with the HD or do you need them to play still?

I’ve got the 40GB which is not backwards compatible. The thing that has confused me though is someone mentioned all PS3’s play PS1 games…not sure if that’s true but I’d like to know.
Maybe if we can get hua to come by, I’m sure he’d know.
