ParticipantAnyone else ever play this? It’s by Square for the PS1 (when they were making good games, not fanservice for chubby girls and loney bastards to masturbate to)
It feels like a perfect mixture of FF Tactics and Chrono Trigger in terms of story, battle flow, a how everything looks, with a hint of the KOEI turn-based battles occasionally. My only problem with it is that it’ll shift the focus to lame ass characters I don’t care about and force me to play as them to advance the game.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

ParticipantThere are apparently a lot of SaGa games out there. The PSX games, the Romancing SaGa games, and I think the gameboy "Final Fantasy" games were also SaGa games.
The most recent SaGa game I know of is Unlimited SaGa, which has pretty mixed reviews.

KeymasterI own SaGa Frontier II but I haven’t played much more than a few hours. I didn’t like that you select one of the two characters at the beginning and then get switched around all the time. That said I loved the first one and I’ve beat it with every character multiple times…nice short little 10-15 hour quests with some depth, I kinda miss those days. Now every game has to be a gigantic 80 hour quest…

ModeratorYes, the "Final Fantasy Legend" games on GB are part of the SaGa series, although they play completely differently from the other ones. FFL1 and 2 involve building your own party (FFL2 is the best game ever on the GB, btw), FFL3 is an impressively generic RPG with time-travel. FFL1 at least has been remade on the Wonderswan Color, so there may be hope (eventually) of the remake that 2 deserves. :)
I have a copy of SaGa Frontier 1, but I haven’t played it in years. I really liked SF2, but I was only able to rent it – never got very far in it at all, but I liked the music.
There were three Romancing SaGa games on the SNES – I have the third of them in original format (it was $1 in-box – they were wallpapering some store in Akihabara), but haven’t played any of them. 3 was remade for PS2, but I heard it wasn’t very good.

ParticipantMy favorite thing about the Romance SaGa games was that I was playing the SNES one right after I play Destiny of an Emperor, and I accidentally downloading an RottK game. Pretty damn pleasant surprise.

Actually, last I’ve heard, Final Fantasy Advanture (For the gameboy) is the first Seiken Densetsu (The second being… Secret of mana!!!)

It’s kind of confusing the way they did that. FFA is the first Seiken Densetsu, but FF Legends 1, 2, and 3 are SaGa1, 2, and 3.

ParticipantYeah, can’t argue with that, it IS confusing!
The first time I heard Of Seiken Densetsu, was with the third in the series (The best IMO). Learning later that this game would have been Secret of Mana 2 (Implying SoM is the second SD), I asked myself: Where is the first Seiken Densetsu?!? Learning later that it was FFA with some research.

ParticipantFINAL SEIKEN ADVENTURE DENSETSU FANTASY
Is it just me, or does this sound like a horrible crossover of Seiken Densetsu and Final Fantasy?

KeymasterHm…Secret of Mana and the SaGa games are related? I thought it was the FF Legend games and the SaGa games? I think I’m confused…

ModeratorNope. Two series:
SaGa (FFL and SaGa games)
Seiken Densetsu (Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3, other "of Mana", like Legend of Mana, are spinoffs of the series).

ParticipantI beat Gustave’s story awhile back, but honestly, I don’t want to play as Wil Knights. So, I’m through with the game.
