In Shu, there is a place called Luo Feng Pass. It is a narrow pathway located between mountains, when we are on our way to Fu Shui. Peng Tong died there by default in DOAE2. But DOAE1 does not do this. We may come across outlaws or bandits whose have 20000 to 30000 soldiers. They keep coming after each battle. Since their attacking abilities are weaker than us, we can defeat them. Our levels raise pretty quickly when we engage in a lot of these battles.
This is the problem, however. I played the computer version in Chinese. Taiwan adapts the NES version into PC. I have never tried this trick in NES. I apologize if NES does not have it.
April 27, 2006 at 5:33 pm #18718Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI have not tried this but I will attempt it now.
So I’m looking for high-soldier Bandit Forces in the forest/mountains west of Fu Shui?
I’ll report shortly.

April 27, 2006 at 10:38 pm #18720Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterNot sure, I tried building up pretty much everywhere in that forest/mountain area to the southwest of Fu Shui. Must be another thing they left out on this version.

In the meantime, I may not be specific enough regarding the location. If you depart from Fu Shui, where you rescue Liu Zhang, you head southwest. It is a long travel and you will go through a very narrow mountain pass. After you pass this pathway, roam around the area. Hopefully you will encounter these outlaws or bandits with 20000 to 30000 soldiers. If not, the PC version might have installed this trick on its own.
April 27, 2006 at 11:16 pm #18722SamuelParticipantLet me try to be more specific, this secret place is located before you encounter Zhang Ren and Liu Gui at the gate.
I am sorry if they exclude this trick in the English version.
April 27, 2006 at 11:37 pm #18723Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterokay, before Zhang Ren and Liu Gui….I’ll check into that now.

I?ve got some photo screenshots of the battles and details on the exact location, and I have been planning to post a little feature on it to Kongming?s Archives at some point in the upcoming future as well. When I do, feel free to snatch up any images you like for your own feature. Also, if you have the Japanese version of the game, you can play to that point and take actual ROM screenshots of the battles.
May 7, 2006 at 11:25 pm #18725Xian Zhu XuandeParticipantHehe? I figured why not put it together while it is still fresh in my mind?
May 7, 2006 at 11:48 pm #18726Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterWelcome James.
That’s crazy stuff. Is that the only Japanese-only glitch you know of? I might have to get the Japanese version of the game to see that. I bet you can gain some levels real fast with An Sha, although it is far away from a place to rest.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingMay 8, 2006 at 7:23 am #18727Xian Zhu XuandeParticipantNah, this is the only Japanese-specific trick that I know of (and I haven?t known about it more than four or five months myself, for that matter). From what I have been told, once you manage to defeat them you shoot up in levels (especially if you are around the point where you are just learning An Sha).
With some dedication, a person should be able to overcome the rebels even at that point in the games (especially if they can be found in groups of two), and after some adjustment, fight their way up to whatever level they wish. I?m not sure how many decent An Sha tacticians you can have at this point, though?certainly none of the best. After managing it, it should certainly be worth the effort of buying a few Gullwings and an officer or two of Smoke Pots.
The person who took the screenshot for me also gave me the Japanese ROM, so I?ve been thinking about playing through myself. I pretty much know the menus, but it is strange picking weapons and armor when there are no symbols to differentiate between them. I?ll be placing the ROM on the KMA downloads page as well so other people can snatch it up.
May 8, 2006 at 1:01 pm #18728Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYeah I’ll definitely snatch that up and do some experimenting. Sadly enough I probably have that game memorized including the dialogue so knowing the language hasn’t been necessary for a while.
However do you have to use a different emulator for Japanese games?

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingMay 8, 2006 at 3:21 pm #18729Xian Zhu XuandeParticipantI just added it to Kongming?s Archives? downloads page. Go ahead and snatch it up!
You should be able to play it with any emulator that supports DoaE 1 EN. :)
(The fonts are stored in the ROM itself, so no issue there.)
