Okay, some questions to help with the Jin Xuan mod (and likely other people's mods too)…
(1) Where can we find the int requirements for learning specific techs? In particular, Fu Bing's requirement needs to be lowered.
(2) Has anyone found the data for which NPC sprites are where? I want to change some of them (in particular, replacing the boy at Zhuge Liang's house with someone else; no, not Paris Hilton.)

Take a look at 0x0003B8F0
Tactics are organized by category (I'm guessing by slot they appear in). This was a tricky one to find!
The progression we see starting at that address is
Code:3C 5A 78 B4 DCWhich corresponds to 60, 90, 120, 180, 220. Also known as the INT requirements to learn the Fire techs (see James' Tactics FAQ).
If you want to verify the order they come in (after Fire/Water, the values get jumbled), see where they are named (at 0x0002FE40):
Code:Lian Huo[END]Ye Huo[END]Yan Re[END]Da Re[END]Huo Shen[END]Shui Tu[END]Shui Xing[END]Shui Lei[END]Hong Shui[END]Shui Long[END]Chi Xin[END]Tong Xian[END]Yin Xian[END]Jin Xian[END]Wan Fu[END]Ji Rou[END]Wuo Jian[END]Shui Jian[END]Ce Mian[END]Ji Mian[END]Cheng Nei[END]Yi Xin[END]Li Jian[END]Qi Shou[END]Jie Ce[END]An Sha[END]Bei Ji[END]Fu Bing[END]Tui Lu[END]Gui Huan[END]Fu Bing has an INT requirement of 220 (hex DC). To find it in the list, I hit my right-arrow key and counted and verified the value there was currently DC (at address 0x3B90B).
I take no responsibility for what other disasters this may cause ;)
As for (2), I'm not sure where it is and I don't have any ideas on how to search for what sprites are where. The trick is figuring out how they would organize this data, really…
August 13, 2009 at 4:13 pm #36695DragonAtmaModeratorMmmm… thank you. It'll be nice for someone to finally learn Fu Bing without chapter 1 grinding!
August 13, 2009 at 5:14 pm #36696Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterFu Bing is the coolest thing, unless you're playing a mod with the enemy having it. It's so damn broken, they use Fu Bing and then get double-hits for EVERYTHING. My favorite is when they use Shui Jian, and then Liu Bei will smack you with a physical attack afterwards. So cheap…

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingAugust 19, 2009 at 3:15 am #36697DragonAtmaModeratorAs another question, did they ever find where the battle quotes are located? IIRC there are a whole bunch of unused lines of text, which should be more than enough to give every battle its own taunt…
I count 98 lines. Any status reports on DoaEd and DoaTEd?
August 19, 2009 at 3:32 am #36698Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterThey might be located at the very bottom of the text editor. Or close to it. Like I said though, there are only 8 or so generic taunts…so i don't know how adding a bunch of new taunts would work.

If only DoaTEd had the list of hex values for each line of text! But I fear that the editor's busy hanging out with Bicycle Repaiman…
August 19, 2009 at 9:41 pm #36700NiahakModeratorHonestly, I've been meaning to find the time but when I get home from 8 hours of staring at a screen (or worse, 4 hours of staring at a screen and 4 hours of meetings) it's hard to work up the motivation. If I do, I'd usually rather work on the Suikogaiden translation stuff because the DoaE modding scene has been so quiet.
I might get a chance to add that improvement this weekend, though. If not then, it'll be a few weeks :(

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingSeptember 1, 2009 at 2:07 am #36702DragonAtmaModeratorIf you do, can you include the entries for soldier counts and such that aren't used? Atma has a devious plan…
September 1, 2009 at 9:41 pm #36703NiahakModeratorI know I include sprites, tactics, and color/AP values that aren't used. I was pretty sure I did the same with soldier counts. I'll take a look at this when I get a chance, but I don't even have access to the code right now.
September 2, 2009 at 1:13 am #36704Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea, we're certainly allowed to change HP totals from level-up HP upgrades to random numbers (though the 'random' numbers are limited).
