Well I’m almost done. I heard this game was long but I couldn’t imagine them creating a 60-70 hour Zelda…They did though and it didn’t seem drawn out.
I suggest you all get this game, if you liked Ocarina of Time (how couldn’t you, if you played it). The gameplay is pretty sharp, difficulty is satisfactory, story seems a little different for a Zelda game though. The wolf thing is nice but I don’t find myself using the Wolf much later in the game (when you gain control of going from the Wolf / Human Link whenever) except for killing Poes.
I’ll do a full review on this soon when I’m done…all questions and comments regarding the game can go here.

Why are you so surprised? Everywhere you read it says the game is really that long. One of the few games out there that live up to the 60-70 hour claim.
April 16, 2007 at 6:06 pm #23466Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYeah you’re right TF. I did read about that prior to playing it, but I guess I assumed since they had the same amount of dungeons that it’d be about as long as Ocarina.
One thing I’ve noticed going through is that the dungeons might not be harder or longer but that there are plenty of things to do in between dungeons. I’m at the City in the Sky and none of the dungeons thus far have challenged me like the Water Temple did in OoT – that said my problems in OoT Water Temple were always water level based.
I like the warping. And I like the new weapons (Spinner, Double Clawshot, Ball and Chain) although many items tend to only be useful for their respective dungeon.

April 17, 2007 at 9:56 pm #23468Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYeah there are a ton of them. I just beat Zant for my 20th total.
And finding all 60 of the Poes is pretty fun although I missed two somewhere. I saw it was only a Silver Rupee for getting all 60 so I may just skip it. Money seems kind of irrelevant after a certain point and I don’t use the Magic Armor much anyway.
I think I’ll be completing this soon depending on how this these next few bosses after Zant go…

September 23, 2007 at 4:26 am #23470ATLUSParticipantI thought it was pretty decent and had a nice atmosphere for the 2 hours I spent with it on Gamecube, but then I got a wii and the wii version and I just hated going through the long intro stuff again. Always meant to try it again but never have. So yeah, I go around saying I dislike it but really I never gave it enough of a chance! Oh well, I don’t feel like I’m missing much.
edit: and nate still has my gamecube copy so
September 23, 2007 at 4:32 am #23471Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI enjoyed it for Gamecube. Not quite the masterpiece of OoT but better than any of the ones after it imo.
Consequently this game comes in second place as far as bringing traffic is concerned – a good distance behind FFXII though.

Not sure how I’d rate this game, maybe a bit less than the N64 Zeldas but it was still a decent game (Gamecube version at least, dunno about Wii).
September 23, 2007 at 5:54 pm #23473CommieCatGirlParticipantWould anyone recommend getting it? I haven’t tried it yet, but it doesn’t seem to be good.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby
September 23, 2007 at 7:54 pm #23474sarsamisParticipantDownload and play the N64 games. They’re superior and won’t cost you money.
September 23, 2007 at 11:07 pm #23475CommieCatGirlParticipantYeah, but, my N64 emulator has muffled sound shit. I should load up Mystical Ninja starring Goemon again, it does the whole Zelda thing fairly well

Huh? No it doesn’t. I’m playing OOT on N64 right now and it sounds awesome.
BTW, here’s a reason why you should play it on emulation.
Remember Mario 64?
Remember when Wave Race 64 first showed off Cel-shading on the N64? I know I did.
This is what you can do to N64 games with an emulator.

You do realize that shot is BEYOND the native N64 resolution, right? They retextured the game to make it look like that. I even have a Cel-Shaded OOT mod.
