Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterThe first battle with solo Ramza is actually pretty hard, but once you can fight random battles it becomes very easy. I have actually completed a Solo Ramza without any random battles.
For more challenge, try the Straight Character Challenge.

KeymasterFuck him and his bullshit Clops summon and fuck Auto-Potion for not working all the time.
The best part of this forum is I can make profanity-laced threads anytime I want
edit – 9 attempts on the rooftop battle and I haven’t had one chance to move a character. im sorry but thats just unacceptable, I hope when they redid tactics they changed the design on that ridiculous battle.

ParticipantFor the Wiegraf duel, equip a Chameleon Robe and he won’t use Lightning Stab. (The glitch here is that Lightning Stab isn’t Holy-based, but Wiegraf’s AI thinks it is.)
On the roof, what I do is either equip speed-boosting stuff like Green Beret and move in quickly, or unequip one guy and have him distract the enemies. You only need to put one of the enemies into critical, so just pummel on Celia or Lede. Really, this battle is more luck than skill.
Also, you should keep Rafa since her low Brave is useful for Move-Find Item. I usually keep Malak too, but I never use him.

KeymasterTwo jumps from a Lancer on Wiegraf and he’s dead…the problem was that Ramza would never use an Auto Potion after the first Lightning Stab…
Seriously I did that rooftop battle another 10 times…I did save before Riovanes but I don’t want to do the other three battles over but I seriously don’t think I have the equipment to even go….Elmdor uses that Samurai attack that Confuses Rafa sometimes and Celia will use that Stop attack and the other will attack Rafa and she dies. Every time and I never even get to go..the worst part is….I get to deal with the fucking PS1 load times!

ModeratorI haven’t confirmed whether it really works or not, but there is an option in the PS2 menu to speed up PS1 load times.
Turn on the PS2 and leave the disc ejected. Go into options, then drivers, and highlight the PS1 driver and hit triangle. You’ll have two options to improve PS1 performance; the other one is a texture smoothing thing that only looks good on a few games.
So FFXII got you in the tactics mood?

Okay I did both of those, not sure if they’ve done much…I knew about the smoothing effects and thought I had that setting turned on but evidently not.
Yeah I remembered I had a quest around the Orbonne Monastery part where you fight Izlude and Wiegraf and I wanted to see how many of these FF12 names carried over since my memory of Tactics (towards the end of it at least) is a little fuzzy.

haha brilliant, I put a Chemist with no defensive equipment on and sure enough it distracted Lede. Celia still attacked Rafa but Rafa dodged one of the two attacks, leaving enough time for the Lancers and Monks and Agrias to kill Elmdor.

ModeratorActually, that’s the main bad part about turning on the fast-load and smoothing; you have to do it each time you turn the PS2 on.
I think it speeds up some games, but I’m not sure which ones.

KeymasterGoing through this again I notice this game is way too easy with Orlandu, and the translation is pathetic. I can’t believe I didn’t notice that earlier..
for the Dycedarg battle…
"Winning Conditions – Kill Dycedarg’s Older Brother"…
What the hell?

ModeratorOh yes, FFT is easy. One of my roommates has made a habit of using only Ramza in story battles (after the first, of course). He levels up to 99 before that, but…
And the translation is mostly pretty bad. "Tortured thieves" was entertaining enough, but the rest just made the plot seem needlessly complicated. Kept getting mixed up between Larg and Dycedarg in my mind until the 3rd playthrough myself.

ModeratorBy the time you reach Velius, Ramza should be able to switch to a Ninja with AttackUp or a Monk with Two Swords. Either one’ll be enough to OHKO (or at least badly wound) Weigraf, and put a nice-sized dent in Velius.
