i duplicated 8 zheng letters but now when i use them on the thrones it just says "nothing happens". do i have to wait until i get to a town that has billeting? i figured it would at least give me a shitty general or outlaw army if done early on, but it doesnt do anything :(
You must be doing something incorrectly. Are you trying at Xu Zhou in front of the old fella? The first time you can do it successfully is at Luo Yang Castle with Guan Yu (Yang Huai, who is the generic one you most often get).

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingi'm much past that, i already destroyed cao cao's million man fleet :(, i am starting to wonder if its the emulator, im using the latest version of fceux. do i have to have guan yu in the lead when i walk into the throne?
Nope. Just be right in front of the throne and face north to the throne and use the Zheng Letter. It should work.

something odd though, i just recruited a lu bu and now whenever i use them the yuan shao txt comes up but im not getting anyone anymore :(
Yea. You have to leave the town and come back to clear it (then you can recruit someone else). Otherwise, you can keep using the Zheng Letter and getting the Yuan Shao quote, but nothing happens.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingSometimes you have to leave town and sometimes you don't have to. Just when I was recruiting Lu Bu I kept using Zheng Letter again and again without having to leave the throne and I got the same amount of Lu Bu clones.
I guess Lu Bu is the best general we can get by using Zheng Letter but the ultimate generals lie with the 64 items trick :P

Good point Zhuge Liang. Sometimes you don't have to leave town. I know it works that way at Chaisang too – you just keep using the Zheng Letter and you get Lu Meng, Zhou Yu, and Zhang Zhao.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingmeh i give up, this is the 2nd time ive tried playing this game where i ran into rom errors. the 1st time was when i was deep in the game and was supposed to get on the boat and the boat appeared but i could not get on it, now this time i cleared southern jingzhou and the guards at ma liang's house still say "he is very busy". is the rom posted on kongming.net damaged or something? it seems odd that this would happen to me TWICE both at different parts of the game
Have you followed the game guide extremely well? Oh wait, I know that using Zheng Letter may cause some side-effects that could affect to the game flow. For instance, if you used Zheng Letter to recruit Yang Huai before you get the key from Pang Yi, you won't be able to proceed forward. Gotta be careful with the bug somehow.

Sorry to hear that man, we should've warned you about him sooner. I think he's the only one who causes trouble in the entire Zheng Letter recruiteable-generals list.

Yep sorry bro. Totally should have mentioned that. To be honest the Zheng Letter can be more trouble than it's worth until you understand all those variables. Generally it is Yang Huai that screws up my game, right after you invade Han Zhong castle from Zhang Lu. Yang Huai is supposed to be standing outside the castle afteward, but a lot of times if you were doing the Zheng Letter stuff that'll screw that up.
So, make lots of Saved States next time to revert back to. Only thing you can do, or just use the Zheng Letter sparingly.
