Khanos City
You begin chapter 4 in Khanos City. You see a scene with the army and Clive Beckett. Save your game and promote Darius to whichever class will even things out. Buy new weapons and armor for everyone and then save.
As you try to leave town, the entire crimson guard is there waiting for you.
Battle 20 – Khanos City – 10 C. Soldiers – 2 C. Hawks – 2 C. Armors – Kane – Dallas – Sabina – Kurtz
Items – Gold Axe, Holy H20, Aura Gem
This might be the hardest battle on the game. You are fighting the Crimson leaders and the Crimson army takes off a lot and doesn’t take much damage, even with your new equipment.
Technically you’re just supposed to run to the gate, pushing the west-center switch to open the drawbridge on your way to the city gate.
However it’s much better to try to defeat all the Crimson members. First, push the yellow crate east to make Kurtz and friends go the long way. Now go towards Dallas but not close so that they attack you. The next turn, use Roman Fire on his group twice and then mop them up. Kurtz should be there the next turn, so be wary of being near him and his 100+ damage Dagger Storm. A C. Hawk should fly near you at this point too.
After these two groups are gone, stay in this northwest corner and have your guardsman (or just one) stay by the narrow area of the house. You can just one by one kill all the soldiers and Sabina and Kane here. Sabina attacks from long range so you may need to go out towards her to kill her. Kane can use Healing Circle so be sure to take him out once you damage him.
You can get the treasures now. In the northeast is an Aura Gem and the spot nearby with three holes has a Gold Axe. The other chest you see is a Holy H20. Now bring everyone to the gate to win.
Some scenes and then you can go to your next battle.
Battle 21 – Great Masai Forest – 10 Wights – 12 Bugaboos
Items – Kingfoil, Aura Gem
Don’t underestimate this battle, the Bugaboos are a problem as they will shoot you like mad.
Split your party up as evenly as you can. Hide behind trees or on the edges of the map to avoid the Bugaboos, or to at least draw them out. You’ll immediately want your faster characters to take out the two Bugaboos southeast of you. The next two turns might be a little rough for a character on each side but just heal and overwhelm those Bugaboos.
The problem here is that getting over the bridges is easy for the fast characters but your slow characters will fall behind. As you get past the northeast bridge, you’ll see a crack – it’s a Kingfoil (Healing Circle). The group on the other side can probably get up the hill faster with more trees so less bugaboo resistance. Also, towards the southeast you’ll see a shell / snail-like design on the sand – search for an Aura Gem. Kill the rest of the Bugaboos.
Zohar informs you of Xeno after the battle.
Trade City Kerachi
Diego is unhappy about having to meet Carlo Lisbon. Go to Carlo’s Mansion and you’ll see why. After, to the Old Town Warehouse.

Battle 22 – Kerachi Warehouse – 8 Skeletons – 4 Gold Golems – 4 Eggworms
Items – None
You’ve been set up. This battle can be extremely easy, despite the fact that they’re all on top of you from the get go. Have one Sorcerer go to one side and the other go to the other side – both use Phase Shift, and that should pretty much halve everyone’s HP. Or have Eleni and Zohar both take out the south.
You’re likely to lose a character or two from all the Skeletons and Eggworms that will be able to attack you. Just heal whoever is left that is ailing. Stick to whichever side you choose, as the rest of the army will come to you. Hunt down the Eggworms because they’ll always stay a good distance from you.
The only thing you should focus on here is getting as many characters to level 20 as possible. This means they can be promoted a second and final time (you get no choice though this time).
Of course Xeno was behind this incident, and so was Carlo. Carlo saves you though when he sees Xeno will kill you.
Promote anyone you can, then go to the train station.

Battle 23 – Magic Train Station – 8 C. Knights – 4 C. Shooters – 4 C. Armors – Dallas Greatarmor
Items – Ramen
This battle has the third and final collect item, the Ramen (to go along with the Tarot and Macroman). After the battle, we’ll deal with this.
The train sections release as you go. It’s like the burning bridge level, but the entire cars go. So use your characters maximum speed and be as efficient as possible when killing enemies.
As the train sections go and you get closer to Dallas, look for a caged area near him. If you search this, you get the Ramen, the final collector’s item. Careful of his attacks – he can kill a Swordsman in one hit almost. Rush him, use magic, long range weapons, and kill his friends first.
You have the Royal Ring, but Xeno is here. He shows you that Kira is going to die if you don’t return the ring to him.
Back in town, go to the tavern. Talk to the Man and he’ll go crazy since you have the Macroman, Tarot and Ramen. He gives you the Key of Chaos. Promote your characters, you should have most if not all at level 20.

Battle 24 – Fort Dain – 8 Death Device – 4 Acid Ghosts – 3 Skeletons – 3 Gold Golems – 2 Deathangels – 2 Eggworms
Items – Life Orb, Kingfoil, Mithril, L. Mask
Ash gives the skeleton the Royal Ring, but Xeno orders Kira to fall into the pit anyway. You have a limited amount of time to destroy all the Death Devices before Kira falls into the lava.
Split your party up and try to bring an archer to the southwest to kill the Acid Ghosts easily. This is where your decision on Hawknights / Archers is crucial – they’re both important for getting at the Death Devices as fast as possible. In the opposite corner, the northeast, is a bunch of Gold Golems. Use your new Spread Force spell if you have it, that can do wonders. When you encounter a Deathangel, kill them immediately as they’re the biggest threat.
As you go east, you’ll see a crater that yields a Kingfoil. The treasure in the northeast is an L. Mask and the southwest has a Life Orb. Finally, get the Mithril in the southeast corner (look for a snail shell type object in the ground). Destroy the Death Devices and you’ll have saved Kira but lost the Royal Ring. Zohar has an idea, in the Torog Mountains.
