Destiny of an Emperor 2 End
So in Luo you heard about that cave, now go there. It’s southeast of Bei Yuan Citadel.
Inside, heard north sticking to the left wall. Grab the gold potion. Go down the first stairs you meet and follow the long path for another Gold (or whatever that symbol is, it restores your health). Now go down the stairs to the right and follow them all the way around for a Gauntlet, which raises your weapon’s attack power by 20. Head back and when you are back take a right at the top of the screen to get to about 4000 gold coins. Now head for the center and check that out; if you take a right from the middle path you will go all the way around to a Nu Long, a very long path. Now if you are in the middle of the area work your way counter-clockwise to get to a raised ground where the Cloud Burst is! This is good, you can Suo Di or just walk out now.
Head north of Luo now to Qi Shan citadel, Xun Yu will meet you with Pang De. Careful, Xun Yu is as dangerous as ever, but only by themselves you should be able to overwhelm them at this point. Again, you are getting close to the end; if anything is difficult for you right now I would build up levels because it’s only going to get harder. Put the Cloud Burst item in Zhuge’s possession by the way.
As I say this, rest up and head north of the citadel and follow it south into the Shang Fang Valley. Cao Cao will ambush you there, but remember the Cloud Burst item. Use it with Zhuge! It will foil his fire attack. It MUST be Zhuge using it. Then, Cao Cao says screw it and uses brute numbers to attack you. Don’t succumb, and be careful of him and his tacticians. This Liu Ye is different from the one you fought at the gate east of Han Zhong, by the way (this one has a bit higher intelligence). Guo Jia is another dangerous tactician that can An Sha you. Still, take Cao Cao out first. Ji Shi and Jin Xian will be your best friend here. After you finally oust Cao Cao for good, you will get immediate word of Liu Bei’s arrival in Luo castle. Head back.
Cao Pi will be on his way to invade and Han Zhong is already dealing with invaders (I thought I left Zhang Bao there? Oh yep, he’s still guarding the castle), so Guan Xing is dispatched and Guan Suo joins the party. Note, if you reject him when he asks to join, he just reintroduces himself to you like you didn’t hear him or something. Good stuff, but he is a stunning general, with 250 attack and 160 intelligence which is more than serviceable with an attack power like that. But getting him at the end of the game his stats have to be propped up a bit to make him significant over the other options. So head back the way where Cao Cao ambushed you and the rocks will be gone.
However, Jia Xu is waiting for you there, with Zhang Yun and Li Zhan. Bow master fight. Not the toughest of generals but Jia Xu is another able Wei tactician, I’m sure you are getting used to seeing them in abundance. Li Zhan and Zhang Yun are bow wielders from the Han Zhong and Jing Zhou areas respectively. Jia Xu goes down passionately, and now head back to rest before you charge the next gate (Si Li Citadel).
Cao Pi is here, and he has the younger generation of Wei families with him. Dian Man is with, along with Xiahou Wei, Chen Qun, and Xiahou Ba. This is a lot like the Cao Cao battles except the generals are a notch worse all the way down the line. Not to say however that they won’t upend you, but Cao Pi is much worse than his dad as you can see. Dominate him and try not to let Chen Qun be too much of a bother, and Si Li citadel should be yours. Not much to do here other than hear more about tea and about Wu Zhang. Also I must note that I received the ultimate sword, Qing Gang, randomly from Cao Pi at this Si Li Citadel battle. It’s only happened once I must add. It is the best sword in the game.
The house to the northeast is empty, so go to the citadel below you. Cao Pi is waiting for you with his best army. But it doesn’t follow him. What is going on? Sima Yi is there now and he seems to be on top of things. Strangely enough, he is attacking Cao Pi! Oh my, Cao Pi is dead, and now he sends you to bed with a thunder tactic that no one has an answer for.
You wake up in Cui Zhouping’s house, and he asks for Tea if you want the answer to the thunder tactic. Oh, of course, so go find some.
You have heard of a Tian Shui tea dealer so go there. The house to the right of the entrance has a man who will give you tea. Great! But now Cui Zhouping wants water. Who does this clown think he is? We’re trying to save the world and he has us running around getting him tea and water? Go to Xialou village (below Beiyuan citadel) and get the water from the old man there and return. Fear not, Cui Zhouping then needs a Tea Set. Lame capcom, lame. The Tea Set is in Luo castle, talk to the purple guy outside of the Item Shop and he will tell you to go inside the house next to him. An old man will hook you up and finally Cui Zhouping will help you. The trick, of course, is up up down down left right up down (same as DoaE 1). Sima Yi and his NES controller tricks!
When you use this, the plan ensues and Zhuge Liang flushes Sima Yi out. Flames engulf his party and the Sima family goes down, along with Xiahou Wei. Good work, now head in and rest (also buy the Heaven Elixir from the guy in the middle of town). Take this past the stone pass and keep going right and up until you get to a village. Once here, enter and the old man Shi Guanyuan will tell you the secret to Sima Yi’s stone wall trick. 20 steps south 20 east! Go there and try it.
So walk in the stone maze, go south 20 steps, east 20, and then south 2 to leave. Simple enough, work your way around to Chang ‘An now. Zhang Liao will be waiting there, with Xu Shu and three Jing Zhou generals in Jiang Xu, Zhang Nan and Han Sui. Xu Shu and Zhang Liao are tough, take them out (especially Zhang Liao) right away. Zhang Liao is one of the top overall generals in the entire game.
In Chang ‘An, the old man in the upper left gives you a Snake Spear. With a Gauntlet equipped, this is a 255 attack power spear. Also, a Fortune Shield (best shield) can be found seven squares east of the Weapon/Armory Shop door (just as the stone path turns north). The end is near, you can sense it.
Head into the mountain structure, and head all the way east and north for a Tent. Head west a little and then north again for 6000 gold coins. Now go to the upper left area and from there you can work your way all the way around to a Sky Helmet, and then continue east and then north quick, for a Moon Sword and another Youyuu Bow. Head east and then south for a Thin Axe, and then continue north to advance. Head around and take a west when you can for a Doomsday Scroll, and head east again. Go north for a Great Armor, and then you can leave as there is nothing else left to get. As you leave and head north, Zhang Liao will be protecting the boat to Luo Yang. Uh oh. Well, he only comes with Chen Qun, and those two can be outdone easy by themselves. Zhang Liao knows the end is near for Wei, and perishes.
Now after you get off the boat you will be where Guan Yu was during the Guan Yu Escape. Nobody is in the castle there, but you can still rest for free at the Hu residence. Now head south obviously. Get ready for a lot of battles.
First off, Dong Heng stops you with Guo Yi and Dian Man to help him. Push through and heal yourself afterwards. Sima Zhao is at the next one, with Xiahou Wei and Jiang Yong. Kill Sima fast so you don’t get An Sha-ed, and continue on to the next one.
His brother is there, with Xiahou Ba and Huang You. Again, take out Sima Shi first. He is the main issue. As you continue on, you’ll notice you can go north but there is nothing there. You are at the last castle, Luo Yang! Attack it, and the Sima brothers will greet you with their friends Dong Heng and Dian Man. Same strategy as before, neutralize the tacticians, the Sima brothers, and take out the two warriors while you are waiting.
Finally, Sima Yi attacks you. This is the last battle, obviously. He is with some powerful warriors. Zhang He and Xu Huang are two of the most powerful Wei generals around and the younger Xiahou brothers (or cousins?) have been fighting you off and on the last few gate and castle battles. Then there is Sima Yi. He is tough, and will restore his soldier count often. Cut his magic off, and quite frankly, get a bit of luck. If he is isolated, it is that much easier. Or you can try to take him out first and assume the rest of the pieces will fall accordingly afterwards. Whatever you have to do, make sure when you are going for Sima Yi to have full power and to attack him with everybody.
The longer you let him linger around at a low soldier count the more apt he is to restore it. Attack him like a rabid dog!
When he goes down, the empire is Liu Bei’s. The music, like the DoaE 1 ending theme, is so joyous that you’ll forget you’re playing the game. Talk to everyone and celebrate! Peace once again in China! Zhang Fei and Guan Yu and Guan Xing are in the palace, along with Liu Bei. They know what’s up. Liu Bei formally thanks you and you traverse the world and see the credits at the same time. Although if you are playing on emulator (which most of you english-speakers will be playing on) you will see all the translation and hacking credits. Cool. Well hey, thanks to the game makers and thanks to those people who took the time to take a game that is more of a cult hit and do a fine job of translating it.
