Dragon Warrior 2 Walkthrough Hargon
Midenhall
Watch the opening as Moonbrooke castle gets taken over. The king dies and the princess is captured. A guard escapes to your castle, Midenhall. You are the prince, and your father the king has you go on a journey to fight Hargon.
Follow the king and grab the Copper Sword and 50 Gold. Equip the sword and leave.
You’re going to want to build levels for a while around Midenhall where the easy creatures are. If you venture too far south or west you may come across monsters that are too hard for you. To the far southeast is a coast that has a Monolith. A sage tells you of Golden Keys and Silver Keys. There is a Golden Key door just west of him but for now go west of Midenhall.
Leftwyne
This little town just west of Midenhall, but avoid the swampy area. If you have the money buy a Chain Sickle, Chain Mail and Leather Shield for your prince, but it’s unlikely you have that cash at the moment. Rest up and go north now.
Cannock Castle
The prince of Cannock will join you eventually. You’ll hear a lot about him, that he went to the Spring of Bravery to the northeast. Talk to the king here to save and you’ll here the Cannock Prince’s name (it’s random, mine was Esgar).
Spring of Bravery
Go north a little of Cannock and then east along the coast. You’ll come to a cave, the Spring of Bravery. As you may have guessed the monsters are a little harder here.
Ignore the first passage west that you see and continue along. You’ll be at a four way split, go south for a Medical Herb, and then southeast a long ways for 29 Gold.
Back at the fourway, take the east path to talk to a guy, and then go north. This leads to the Spring of Bravery. A Medical Herb is the chest to the west, and then the old guy will tell you that the Prince of Cannock went to Midenhall Castle. If you choose not to hear about the prince the wizard guy will restore your HP. This is a good place to build up.
At Midenhall your dad will tell you that the Prince of Cannock went to Midenhall (?). That must be a bad translation. The truth is he is at Leftwyne Village west of Midenhall. Go to the Inn and talk to the green character to recruit the Prince of Cannock. He can cast spells, like Heal and Firebal. Build up with the Prince of Cannock and then venture to the far west of the continent, to the Silver Key Cave.
Silver Key Cave
Be rested when you get here and hopefully your Cannock Prince has Antidote. Take the south path for a Medical Herb and then go west, ignoring the two north paths that lead to nothing. As the path winds south take the east path for 16 Gold and then take the west path which will lead to stairs going down.
On this new floor, go south until you can branch off east for a Medical Herb. Go south a little more and take the west path for an Antidote Herb. Now go south all the way and west for a Wing of Wyvern and 45 Gold Pieces. Back east and then south all the way for the Silver Key. After finding the Silver Key walk back through the cave to Cannock Castle.
Rest at Cannock and then go to the monolith that is west and a little south of the castle. You can now enter the stairs and go south to Hamlin. Go south immediately (the west path leads to a dead end) and you’ll make it to the other side of the coast.
Hamlin
South of the exit will lead to Hamlin. There are tough monsters here and plenty of quality Weapons and Armor at Hamlin to suit you well. The Broad Sword, Steel Shield and Full Plate Armor are expensive but helpful. You’re going to need to gain a lot of experience so you’ll get a lot of Gold in the process, but it does take quite a long time to acquire everything in Hamlin.
The dog in the north part will join you for some reason. Now when you leave, go south past the bridge and then southwest to Moonbrooke Castle.
Moonbrooke Castle
This is the castle at the beginning of the game. Be careful of the poison spots but make your way to the north to talk to the flame of the king of Moonbrooke. West of him is a flame that tells you that the Mirror of Ra is in a swamp to the southeast of Hamlin (east of Moonbrooke).
Leave and go east of Moonbrooke. You’ll see four spots of Poison and if you search them all you’ll find the Mirror of Ra. Take this to Hamlin and go to the dog in the north part of town. Use the Mirror of Ra on the dog in Hamlin to reveal the Princess of Moonbrooke, who is the final character to join the Prince of Midenhall and Prince of Cannock. She starts off with Healmore but gets more powerful offensive spells along the way. On level four she gets Infernos which is a powerful enemy – group magic attack.
With all three characters that’ll mean even more building up. The Tower of the Wind can be accessed by taking the east path from Hamlin that goes north, east, and then south along the coast. The orange tower is the Tower of the Wind.
Tower of the Wind
This tower is pretty big as you’ll find out. On the first floor, a Medical Herb is in the southeast corner. The stairways going north in the middle part of the area lead to a dead end so take the one in the far northeast corner. Talk to the guy by you and then take the stairs.
In this new area on the west part, go south and then east for 46 Gold and then up the staircase. Now when you get a chance between two stairways leading up, take the nearer one and it’ll lead to stairways going down. But this leads to an area you haven’t been to and you’ll find what you came looking for – The Cloak of Wind. If you took the far east stairway leading up you’ll find a treasure that is empty at the very top of the tower. Not a funny joke Enix.
Return to Hamlin to rest, and then go west of Moonbrooke to a Monolith. Here you’ll find a House of Healing promoter and a stairway to the other side of the river. Go to the northwest here to find the Dragon Horn Towers.
Dragon’s Horn Towers
Talk to the green clad guy and then start going up the stairs. It takes a while to get to the top and you’ll be fighting tons of hard monsters. When you get to the top, go to Item – Cloak of Wind – Use and that character will “donn” the cloak. You must do this. Then jump facing north and you’ll fall on the other side of the river.
Go north a little and then east to reach Lianport.
Lianport
Lianport has some nice weapons and armor and is the last town that you have to walk to! Yes, you get a boat. But first go to the weapon shop and get some Clothes Hiding for the princess as she desperately needs it. The Wizard’s Wand is expensive and probably not worth it so get the Magic Knife for her.
As you can see west of the shops are two Gremlins and a lady. Go over there and she’ll plead for help and a battle with the two Gremlins ensues. This battle should be easy unless you weren’t expecting it. The lady brings you to her grandfather, the guy who is blocking the boat! He lends you a boat now since I guess you’re not “strangers” anymore. Use the Silver Key to talk to the merchant on the south bank of the water. He knows of some treasures that we’ll look for soon. Now take the boat out of here and you are free to explore.
wow……the name of the prince of me is bran……..
Yes, I’ve seen him be Bran before.
There are probably 4-6 different names the game will use for the Prince of Cannock and the Princess of Moonbrooke.
are you finish in that quest?………..
I believe so but I have only completed this game a few times, it is quite hard.
how many days or hours did you used?
