The big Sea Master sword is gone and Gan Ning has two little fish skillets to hack his way through. Okay they’re a bit more formidable than that. With the smaller weapons Gan Ning is even quicker in his attacks than before; almost too quick. Sometimes you’ll combo your way into the wrong angle since he moves so fast and far when he attacks. Still, you’ll get used to it and if nothing else it keeps him out of danger, since Gan Ning’s defense is lacking.
His Renbu attacks leave a little to be desired especially in the crowd control area. All of his Renbu attacks are straight on and his first one (a punch to the ground) takes a bit too long to get off. Musou is a quick means of backing the enemy off, though it can be more destructive both in terms of one on one fighting and being able to knock a group away at the end.
Gan Ning spends the early part of his musou mode not obeying orders and doing what he likes. …but then something happens with Lu Meng after Fan Castle…that’s done well and Gan Ning ‘grows’, being able to control himself on the battlefield better.
Despite Gan Ning being a decent warrior, you may wish to level up a bit in Free Mode with him. As you can see, his musou mode levels are generally the later, more difficult stages. To go with the fact he has a vulnerable defense.
