Guan Yu is always the type of character I respect as one of the elite’s though I don’t prefer his style quite as much as most do. That said, Guan Yu’s moveset in DW6 does a good job of covering his weak spots in previous games. Hard to complain with his lack of speed when he gets an x10 speed bonus all the time when running. And his attacks once again take a while to go through, but Guan Yu can tank through most weaker pokes and continue on attacking. At it’s maximum, Guan Yu’s renbu can tear through enemy commanders like few officers can in DW6.
Guan Yu’s musou takes him through the early stages with Liu Bei, and then to Cao Cao for Guan Yu. Fan Castle is always a fun stage with Guan Yu.
Guan Yu still has that fatal reach with the Blue Dragon. The best part of this new Guan Yu is how far forward he moves during his square / triangle attacks. I always felt he was too stationary and left himself open too often in past games, but in this one the huge steps he takes (literally) allows for easier maneuvering from enemies trying to break up your combo. His musou leaves a little to be desired especially in terms of range with that final shot at the end of it.
