It’s fun when you hear an officer go down and it’s Zhang Fei “I think I drank too much last night”. He has some good quotes. Old Yide is slow as ever both in foot speed and in his square-moves, so he can be pecked at from the side while attacking. Zhang Fei does have the advantage of having a high defense to repel these attacks to not break up his own, and he does have a good reach too. Zhang Fei can really stir stuff up once his gets his Renbu going – plus it’s much faster than his other attacks. And more devastating. Zhang Fei has really been improved – back in the old Dynasty Warriors, he was extremely flawed compared to the current version.
His musou takes a while to develop. His foot gets caught for a delayed attack at the end but it gives enough time for enemies to surround him from behind. So in short, Zhang Fei is going to open himself up at the beginning, but he has the HP / defensive potential to absorb it well enough. He is a beast with his attack so continue to build up his defense to ensure no one will slow him down.
Zhang Fei is the only Shu officer to do Battle of Xia Pi and only Liu Bei has the Campaign against Yuan Shu. Ending on Han Zhong isn’t the worst thing either.
