Battle of Ji Castle
“One Man’s ambition can lead to the destruction of another man’s happiness. The destroyed happiness turns to hate, and like a dark cloud of fog, can cover both a man and the world.
Ma Chao and Pang De, warriors of Liang, faced off against the armies of Cao Cao. The year was 213 AD, and the flames of war sprung up to engulf the castle of Ji in the province of Liang. ”

Strategy: You either choose Pang De or Ma Chao for this battle. The idea is that Ma Chao is attempting to take back Ji castle, and Pang De seems disgusted towards his motives. Nonetheless, Pang De assists Ma Chao, only to turn on him at the end of the board.

I tend to side with Pang De in this battle. He general seems like the more mature and sensible one in comparison to the overzealous Ma Chao. When you use Pang De, you probably will want the Speed Scroll as he’ll abandon his mount to jump into Ji castle.
As you begin, head east and take out Yang Fu and Zhu Ling. They shouldn’t be more than a minute excursion. There is a Musuo +20 and a weapon in the northeast, and you should jump down into Ji Castle from this area as well. Yin Feng and a few Gate Captains will be down there, so kill them all. Usually, I’ll head back out of the castle and take out Zhao Ang and Liang Kuan, and about this time Zhang He will have found me and I’ll be doing battle with him. He is powered up, so you may wish to use a Musou Rage on him. Later on, Xiahou Yuan will appear, and he is another prime concern. Ma Chao tends to die around Xiahou if you don’t save him, so remember to do so. Fighting him is like Zhang He, as he is powered up. Chances are Ma Chao will be around, so that’s either a good or bad thing depending on how you fight (he screws up my timing, I dislike him being around).
Jiang Xu is also down here, if he’s not dead yet of course. Wei Kang (powered up) should be the only one left now, so head back into the castle and kill him. You could have done that as you jumped in, too. And remember, the conditions for victory are to defeat EVERY general, so it doesn’t matter who is last.

With Ma Chao, the situation is not much different. Unfortunately, several generals are powered up that weren’t when you were Pang De. Jiang Xu is the first general you see, and he is powered up. Still though, you should be able to take him. Du Xi is a bit north of here, and then head east from his location to see Zhao Ang. He also is powered up, and about this time Zhang He may have found you also. Careful now, Zhang He is powerful and is powered up. Just a little south of here is Liang Kuan and he too is powered up for Ma Chao. This Liang generals sure hate Ma Chao. If you can get past this stretch you should be okay, although Xiahou Yuan will appear shortly thereafter (or maybe before you defeat all those generals). Use your musou rage on him, and once he goes down I’d suggest riding your horse all the way east (Pang De’s rout). Zhu Ling will probably still be alive over here, so kill him and then jump off the cliff, a la Pang De. Yin Feng is here, and Wei Kang also. Watch out for the 30 or so archers that appear as an ambush party.

After the battle, Pang De announces his resignation in front of Ma Chao, just as he is rallying the troops. Ma Chao is shocked, but seems like the ignorant one. Meanwhile, Pang De obviously feels the ultimate goal is only going to be achieved by siding with Cao Cao, which he does.
