Battle of Yang Ping Gate
“Cao Cao’s march of conquest was impeded not only by pillars of heroism but by walls of faith: faith wielded by groups such as Zhang Lu and his Five Bushels Sect.
In the year 215 AD, Cao Cao found himself facing both the natural as well as the supernatural. Would the conqueror’s blade of might be able to break through the defender’s shield of faith…?“

Strategy: Cao Cao and his need to expand places him in Zhang Lu’s realm; not too far from Cao Cao’s nemesis Shu. Xiahou Yuan and Cao Ren are on the east and west sides, respectively, while Cao Cao has Zhang He with him in the center area. Zhang Lu has constructed a large obstacle, one that cuts off your advance by having three levels, and you must fulfill certain conditions to get the stairs to come down and in turn move the army.

Reinforcements come throughout the battle. On Cao Ren’s side (west), Zhang Yi will come with Liu Feng right away, and then Huang Zhong will come with Yan Yan. Xiahou Yuan has Lei Tong and Li Yan come the same time that Liu Feng and Zhang Yi come on the west. When you move further north, Zhao Yun and Meng Da will appear, along with Zhang Fei and Bao at the very northeast. Sometime before this, Yang Ang will probably find you (Zhang Lu sub-general). The west has a Zhang Lu sub-general also, named Yan Pu.
The center is a bit less cluttered but is easily accessible from both sides. Yang Bo and Yang Song are on the first level, along with a phantom Zhang Lu. Further north (3rd floor) is Yang Ren and Zhang Wei. Finally, Pang De will appear at the final gate, powered up and probably the toughest fight in this battle.
Zhang Lu will return to the castle if you work your way up from the west or north and jump down. However he’ll call Pang De to his side (also opening up the main gate) so make sure you and your army are ready for this.

Getting up the center isn’t too tough; use the eastern path (not the Xiahou Yuan path, west of that path) to head to the second floor, where you can take out the statues and the generals to move on. Zhang Lu should retreat at this point after you kill him, so do the same to the statues on floor two and you’ll be at the front gate in no time. Remember not too charge too far ahead, as the further north you go the more reinforcements you’ll trigger.
One thing to be wary of is Cao Cao’s back (ie the side you aren’t on) tends to get a lot of pressure from either the left or right side of the map. Clean that up or hurry with Zhang Lu to make that not be an issue.
