Battle of Mt. Qi
“A promise to a dying man. An oath that propets even a man of extraordinary intelligence into haste. After numerous ventures north, Zhuge Liang and Shu finally faced Wei at Mt. Qi. .
In the year 231 AD, amidst the frenzied pace of the battlefield, Zhuge Liang’s strident call for retreat could be heard. The call, laden with overtones of intrigue, rang throughout the mountain.”

Strategy: Mt. Qi is yet another showing of Zhuge’s brilliance. As a Shu member though, it can be difficult for you to pull off. Understand that you may kill no officer, otherwise Wei will realize you are not actually retreating. Zhuge Liang will then abandon you (or make himself fight alone) and you must fight the entire Wei army powered up by yourself. Rest assured it is still feasible but on Hard or Chaos you’re looking at a very difficult proposition.

Wei Yan is in the southeast area, Zhuge in the center, and Jiang Wei in the northwest. In turn, the opposing enemies in Jiang Wei’s area are Guo Huai and Fei Yao. Zhuge Liang has Zhang Hu and the illustrious Dai Ling in the center. Finally, Wei Yan has the Xiahou family, as Ba is leading Wei, He, and Hui. Lastly, Zhang He is near Sima Yi, who also has his sons Zhao and Shi to his south and west respectively.
Remember, DO NOT KILL ANY OFFICER. The idea is to retreat and get your opposing enemy general to follow you. You must be in sight for him to chase you, so I generally wipe out a good portion of their soldiers to piss the general off and get him coming towards me. Just strife with Red Hare and you should be good. After your general has followed you all the way (you’ll get a confirmation from someone) head to your allies and help get those generals into their spots as well. Once they are you’ll get a message to retreat to the southwest. Every ally will have retreated out of the screen at this point.

But now the enemy army sends Task Leaders to see if anyone is around (I think Zhang He suggests this). You are the only general around, and hopefully you have Red Hare. I’ve had success hiding behind things in the very southwest corner of the map. You have to be careful because there are three of them that wander around and they have a good radius, much like the tigers in Nanman. Again, try to evade the center one for a while (he comes before the other two) and then when you get flustered use your hiding ability, as you’ll have to fight everyone if you’re caught. Once evaded for a long enough time, Zhuge will strike out the ambush parties.
Troops will be sprung out at your initial starting points. The enemy formation will be crumbled and the three enemy generals that were chasing you will have no idea what the hell is going on. Oust them all, and in the middle of it Sima Yi will send Zhang He after you to settle the troops. Once he is killed your morale will skyrocket. Sima will charge himself, and Xu Zhu should be making his way here around this time also.

Defeat Xu Zhu and get the Guard Captains in the enemy base once Sima charges out into the center. Sima will be trapped and will make straight for Zhuge Liang. He is upset and is a difficult fight, but nothing you shouldn’t be able to handle if you worked hard enough to make the plan work.

What do you do once the center taskmaster gets too close? Because every time I avoid him and go straight up the middle where the center taskmaster came from, the plan mysteriously fails, even though the taskmasters are at the southwest corner. I don’t know why.
There are two possible reasons why it’s not working for you: (1) the taskmaster(s) can see you (2) the enemy soldiers can see you. If you get a message from Sima Yi that goes something like “Why is one person attacking in the midst of a retreat?” then you’re too close to the enemy soldiers. The left and right paths are the best hiding places because there’s more room between the taskmasters and soldiers, but I find it harder to reach these areas without getting caught.
A method which works for me is to hide behind the small tent closest to the center path as the taskmaster comes down, then to move midway up the center path to wait for the ambush. With your character facing that middle path (use “block” or “bow” to focus the view), hide behind the tent at the very right and watch as the center taskmaster comes down. He will stop, then move to the left of the screen, at which point, you should move to the right side of the tent to hide. About 2 seconds after the taskmaster ran to the left (keep an eye on those 3 red dots on the map), run up the middle path to the curved corner on the left, and keep to the walls as much as possible to avoid detection. Don’t move too far up otherwise the soldiers will see you. The curved corner is marked by a triangle-shaped boulder to its front left. Don’t panic if you see a taskmaster or two pass by, chances are they won’t be able to see you. Now all you have to do is wait until Zhuge Liang shows up to the save day.
