Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterHmm seems about right. I would usually fight up around the Toroah (SP?) castle until everyone had 1000 HP and Tellah had like 4-500 HP (since his goes up SO slowly and his EXP is already so high). And I kinda of remembered enemies being able to kill Tellah in one hit so…sounds kinda similar

ParticipantToria? I’m not sure, actually… but I know the place you are talking about. I’m not sure because everything I’m reading is in moon letters. For some reason I used to be able to stick around there for a little while to retrieve a Cat Claw or two… but while I was fighting this time I just couldn’t get any. First time in quite a while that I’ve gone on without one (though they don’t exactly make a big difference — it was just something I enjoyed).
This could have something to do with not buying Cid all of his Mithril gear. He usually takes hits like a man in the floating tower, but this time around he was getting smacked up with the best of ’em.

They seem to have changed a lot with the game. I believe Cid’s best gear during the trip to Toroia was Silver wasn’t it?…You go to that town where the villagers are either tiny, frog or pig and they sell nothing but silver gear. One of the best parts in the game. Its when you first get the airship :-D

KeymasterI would always buy that Silver gear but then the characters can’t walk around in the Dark Elves cave without being under the hold status.

ParticipantI used to just go through it with Yang and Tellah. Just take their rings off and you’re fine. Sucks not having Cecil’s attack, but you can make it.

Not anymore… FFIV DS is much less forgiving.
I usually purchased the Mithril gear to clear out Edge’s castle (for the secret items there guarded by really nasty monsters). I actually skipped them on my JP playthrough and it was harsh on poor Cid. The enemies were hitting him harder than I expected. Clearing Edge’s castle (Elben? What was it called?) was tough too, but okay with the use of proper spells and items (e.g. Copper Hourglass).

Describe it?
The only known glitches that I have read of both involve corrupting your New Game + records — not pleasant glitches. Fortunately they are somewhat secure and both known and acknowledged by Square. As such I expect both will be fixed for the English version.

KeymasterLol, I love how the last page and a half of this thread turned into FFIV DS gameplay thoughts (must have been right before the game was out, Xuande was playing on Emu).
But I'm bumping this because I just got the Beyond the Beyond Soundtrack…it's as awesome as I remember. Pretty deep soundtrack too for a short game. What an ass kicking game, I still remember some of these boss battles taking like 30 minutes to beat, made them very epic.
I bet some of the newer guys around here have played it huohu
