ParticipantHas anybody any idea how to recruit Lu Bu after his last battle that takes place in Shu ( the one with 7003 soldiers )? I tried to add some recruitment events behind his text but all I received was a Pirate. I also set him recruitable in DoaEditor newest version but this particular Lu Bu doesn't come from any castle so it didn't work.
I was able to convince the Lu Bu who has the total amount of 439 soldiers to join me after a random battle ( just testing the new recruitment feature ) thanks to Niahak. But it seemed the Lu Bu with 1440 soldiers doesn't appear in a random battle after I fought him at Ji Zhou ( with Yuan Shao ).

The problem is that his HEX ID is triggered by an event to essentially "remove" him from the game and not appear again, kind of like choosing to kill Yuan Shu so he doesnt appear in Ji Zhou. You would just have to create a new Lu Bu by replacing another officer and make him recruitable via that method would be *easiest*. I would think the 439 soldier Lu Bu you would stilll lose @ the yuan shao random battle.

ModeratorI think sonic.penguin's got the right of it. You could actually make the 439 soldier Lu Bu random-encounterable elsewhere (post-Shu?) to keep things consistent – just give him a better soldier count when he joins you.

ParticipantI think you got it right, sonic. The 439 soldier Lu Bu that I recruited also betrayed me when I first met Yuan Shao on the bridge. Although I made him encounterable in somewhere like Shu and JingZhou after got rid of Yuan Shao, it appears that I cannot run across him anymore. I wonder if I were to destroy Yuan Shao before the moment I recruit him, would he still be there waiting for me?

KeymasterQuote:I seem to remember when I played DoaE on my old NES console, I could meet Liu Kui in battle, though I never attempted to recruit him. Though, thinking through all the times I have played via emulator, searching for various better Shu generals to recruit, Liu Kui's name has never shown up.I'm positive there is no Liu Kiu in field battles and of course then not recruitable (unles we're talking about two different releases). All the times playing this game, then going through the mods, let alone testing the YS mod a million times and Liu Kui or the person in his spot is never found in battle after that. It's just like the Dong Ming spot, never do you see him in field battles either after his gate battle. He's the best comparable for Liu Kui. They both basically die after their gate battle.
It's crazy the stuff you remember with DoaE as a kid. Definitely remember seeing a lot of Guo Ji (Guo Si) and then wondering why he wouldn't be there other times. Also remember running into Xiahou Yuan once in Yuan Shu land (in that spot along the coast southeast of Yuan Castle) and being fortunate enough to run from him.
Quote:This seems to be one of those special deals, and my theory is that after Cao Pi is slain by Sima Yi, every officer which takes part in one of the Cao Wei castle battles (Guang Ling gate, Guang Ling, He Fei fortress and gate, and Ru Nan and gates) is set to recruitable regardless of the table.Quote:On the console, zhang liao was recruitable after his guang ling battle. We rented it over 100 times ( i know, but its true) and I agree w/ LudHmm, I don't know, I'm pretty sure they've only been recruitable for me post-Cao Pi battle. That's really crazy if they would release two separate copies of DoaE with only a few marginal changes lol.

The prompt would go up, I'd say yes and no one would join (or the game would break). So instead I just stuck him at Luo Castle since Ma Chao / Ma Dai already have the recruit event there automatically. Putting him through with the 439 Lu Bu could work, or think of other spots that have auto-recruit (Wei Yan, Huang Zhong, Yi Ji, Ma Su, Ma Liang, Ma Chao, etc).
We can really recruit 439 Lu Bu in field battle though? Looks like for 'area' he is already in Dong Zhuo.

Isn't he like BC or something? I believe you can change this just have to look through the hacking guide.

Based on what you said and because Yuan Shao's now gone, it looks like I will have to start a new game to know exactly whether he still were there or not. We'll see…

Moderatorinteresting request, and something I have considered as well aka a warriors orochi type of mod.
However, keep in mind that even a semi-decent mod will take weeks if not MONTHS to create and thats only if youre working daily on it for at least 4-5 hrs. The Rise of Lu Bu mod has about 500+ man hours into it. That was the time it took to learn the programs, write the script, do the battle, etc

ModeratorHi Niahak,
I found a minor bug. If you have 2 generals with the same name (ie… if you wanna use the same general in 2 different chapters or something) and you select the general on the battles page, it reverts to the first one on the list. You can't pick the 2nd one with the same name.
And another minor request. Can you allow more values in regiontable.tbl like you did with tactics and soldiers? That way we can take advantage of the 8 new chapters enhancement.

If nobody minds that, I can fix it that way.

ModeratorQuote:If nobody minds that, I can fix it that way.I would prefer to be able to select different generals with the same name. I know a couple of other people do the same thing in their mods too where they use a general more than once and give him different soldiers, AP, AC in a different chapter.

ModeratorSomething when done editing the text corrupted my mod again… overwrote previous version since I didnt catch the glitch until later, it caused everything to run fine until after I issued commands in a battle then everything went bonkers. Will upload a picture momentarily…
Also, I posted this on the IPS page, but the selection of the first instance of something in the UI, IE officers, also affects tactics when selecting 'none'. It selects the first 'none' and not the 2nd which gives officers tactics somehow…

ModeratorStill think it is something that happens when DOAEditor opens, but not sure what since its random. I usally export once, test the file, and if DOAEditor isn't corrupting it I leave it open and continue editing.
