ModeratorThanks :cactuar:
If i wanted to simply use the taunts already existing, I could have just edited the text in the text editor. Also, as I did in the rise of ieyasu mod, I was able to use dialogue of townspeople for both taunts and townspeople so it worked both ways.
Maybe some others could chime in, but using the full dialogue would be really helpful in modding and not so limiting to the 8 or so regular battle taunts. I would honestly prefer the whole list as long as you can select with pressing W to search through lines that start with W.

ModeratorAre there any empty text banks/slots in the original game? If so perhaps DoaEditor could reserve some just for taunts? That way you don't have every single text in the list but maybe have some reserved slots just for taunts.

ModeratorIIRC there were fifty unused lines.

ModeratorFor the time being, I've uploaded a version that allows you to use all lines:
http://www.niahak.org/images/DOAE/DoaEdv098b.zip
You can search in the drop-down by clicking the arrow, then typing in the start of the line you want. The interface is a little finicky, but it's mostly functional.

ModeratorAwesome, maybe I'll just use this one as my own local copy :D but… :crybaby: Can't test it today, a lot on the agenda, but maybe tomorrow, but I do like the reduced sprite list, its much easier to find stuff now.

ModeratorOkay, had some time to test it and I know what it needs. Lets say you made a mistake picking your line and want back the original, can you make it work like officer editing where if you dont click the "save" button, it reverts back to the original?
June 4, 2012 at 10:08 pm #27301Niahak
ModeratorHmm. Would that also apply to saving the existing text you edited?
It can be done (and, honestly, makes it easier on me).

ModeratorSure, we can always give it a try. If we hate it we'll just blame you :P :unibrow:

ModeratorFor some reason, when trying to select the 'none' option in the taunts section, it doesnt stay, it reverts to the previously selected taunt.
and this:
Description:
Stopped working
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: DoaEditor.exe
Application Version: 1.0.4537.15882
Application Timestamp: 4fcb6b64
Fault Module Name: KERNEL32.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.0.6002.18449
Fault Module Timestamp: 4da47967
Exception Code: e053534f
Exception Offset: 0003fc56
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.6
Locale ID: 1033
And for some reason, when editing text, it is editing more than one line of text.

ModeratorWhoa. Can you give me detail on what happened when you ran into the "stopped working" bit?
How many lines is it editing at a time? Is this in the taunt/closer section, where you can actually edit both the taunt and closer at the same time?
Sorry about the crash. I'll see what I can do based on the info you provide.
June 6, 2012 at 12:43 am #27305sonic.penguin
ModeratorThe crash came as a result of pressing the "L" key to search for lines that began w/ that letter in the text editor, same issue as before.
It tends to edit the line that is next to it for some reason, but if I click on that line, it returns back to normal sometimes? I didnt know I could actually edit in the taunt/closer section, will have to try it :D

ModeratorI've uploaded a quick release for troubleshooting that'll provide a better error message when that sort of thing happens, so I can figure out exactly what's going on.

It sounds like you're running into some weird timing issues with line editing. Are you on a pretty slow machine?

ModeratorG73 SW
Windows 7 64-bit OS
I7 2630
8 G-Ram
Geforce GTX 460
I mustve changed a system setting b/c whenever I click Debug now it just closes the program and displays no readme file. Any idea what I switched? heh
June 6, 2012 at 11:43 pm #27308Niahak
ModeratorSo it's the reverse. Your machine is more of a powerhouse than my own, so I'm unlikely to be able to reproduce your issue.
I switched IDEs/compilers between the last 0.97 and the first 0.98 version. That might be a part of it, but it seems unlikely to be anything you can touch.
Did you try out the new version? It should be printing a message when you run into the error… unless it's somewhere I'm really not expecting, I suppose.
June 6, 2012 at 11:52 pm #27309sonic.penguin
ModeratorOnce I figure out how to enable JIT debugging on Win 7 again… Yeah, it crashes on the new version as well.
I have tried it on another computer with less juice, it does the same there as well.
