No… I had very limited space to work with in the ROM so the change I made was to simply subtract the chapter number by 8 if the chapter was 9 or higher (only for rebel force/bandit force lookups). There's a special exception where chapter 0 becomes 8 for searching for rebel forces. This was the easiest way to do it. Any other way that I can think of would have been extremely difficult.
