I know what’s coming up, just counting the minutes….
And it’s nice to see that someone at Capcom put so much effort into a one-line avatar.

April 25, 2006 at 4:11 am #18212Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI just wonder what it’s like playing it in it’s native language. But that’s part of the fun, in my opinion. Gives character to games. Seriously the dialog in the DoaE’s is the shit and the Magic-Destiny translators did a fine job translating DoaE 2 in a similar style to the first Destiny of an Emperor.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingApril 25, 2006 at 5:15 am #18213Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterCrazyness. So I skipped Yi Ling and just fought Cao Ren, Cao Ang and Niu Jin at Nanjun instead. This was a tough battle and I had to make sure every Yan Re hit pretty much.
Then I go back to Yi Ling….and I can just walk right in without a fight. I guess taking out Cao Ren meant Wei left entirely….so you really don’t ever have to fight that battle if you don’t want to. But again, that Nan Jun battle was tough. Niu Jin normally isn’t in that battle and all three generals have an increased defense (I did like 20-50 per person). Yan Re still takes off 900 or so with Zhuge so I would just use that if you’re choosing this method….

See if Ba castle is mandatory too (although it might be hard since I think they might have the only save point in lower Shu).
April 25, 2006 at 8:59 pm #18216Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterSeems to be the case. That’s a tough battle if you don’t fight Yi Ling first.
I’m getting to that Ba area. I still don’t understand why Yang Huai comes to Han Zhong after you defeat Zhang Lu and insists on giving you "Gold" to turn on Liu Zhang. You can’t say no to him and you don’t get any money. I don’t get that part…

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingApril 25, 2006 at 9:04 pm #18217Taishi CiParticipantIt could be a plot by Liu Zheng/Zhang to test your loyalty, or it might just be that Yang Huai doesn’t like you. I’d go with the latter.
April 25, 2006 at 9:08 pm #18218SamuelParticipantThere seems to be a problem in English translation. The story in the Chinese and Japanese version has Yang Huai asking Liu Bei’s army to return to Fu Shui. Yang Huai says that Liu Zhang has invited them to a banquet as a celebration of defeating the Han Zhong troops. When Liu Bei’s army arrives at Fu Shui, the real plot comes out. Liu Zhang assigns Yang Huai, Gao Pei, and Wu Lan to kill them. Then, the battle begins.
I don’t know whether the Ba Castle is mandatory. But you will miss out on recruiting Yan Yan and picking up an ice spear for free, if you skip it.
April 26, 2006 at 7:23 pm #18219Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOkay, to confirm I skipped the Ba Castle thing. I returned much much later (after Cao Cao at Luo Castle) to find that I could just walk in and that Yan Yan is standing there. I assume once you defeat Liu Zhang this turns Ba Castle over to your side, although I did not test when that happens (I tried going there after defeating Lei Tong at Jian Ning and you still had to fight at Ba Castle).
Really good news though. At Sili Citadel (Cao Pi battle) I managed to acquired the Qing Gang Sword!
I find it strange that I find this randomly for the first time right here. Either way I am pleased, and Samuel must be right about the rest of the weapons as well.
Officially, the only weapons/armor in the game that I have not come across are the Li Guang Bow and the Zeng Zong Saber.
Are the Great Armor, Sky Helmet, and Fortune Shield the best defensive equipment you can have? If so your max A.C. is 235.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingApril 26, 2006 at 8:13 pm #18220Taishi CiParticipantWho are the generals in that battle, one of them must drop the item. How did you not pick one up while leveling to 99?
April 26, 2006 at 8:18 pm #18221Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYeah that’s what I was thinking man. How could I not have met that combo of generals enough times on my way to level 99? Maybe all this item duplication triggered something, I’m not sure, but 4/5’s of my party uses a Sword or a Spear, so I’m set with the Snake Spear and the Qing Gang Sword. I just want to find that damn Zeng Zong Saber for Guan Suo and then the Li Guang Bow just to have everything…
I just don’t want to search the entire map to find them. They could be in that abandoned castle west of Hu Hua’s house though.
Oh, it was Xiahou Ba, Xiahou Wei, Chen Qun and Dian Man in that Si Li Citadel battle with Cao Pi.

How do you have four out of five people using swords? I can think of Jiang Wei, Zhuge Liang, and Ma Liang. Are you still using Zhang Lu?
Let me start another thread, discussing who we use in the Shu and Wei stages.
April 26, 2006 at 10:43 pm #18223Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOh whoops, I meant two Snake Spear users (Ma Chao and Zhao Yun) and then two Qing Gang Sword users (Jiang Wei and Zhuge Liang) with Guan Suo being the lone Moon Saber user.
Pretty much the ultimate party at the end of the game, although I could see someone using someone else instead of Ma Chao…
