In the equip menu, you can equip weapons, armors, hats, shields and accessories (This is where you equip the steeds).
I just got into Wu right now, finished buying myself equipment.

You find the Smoke Bomb spell in the Jiangxia cave, so use that if you get into trouble, it always seems to work.
So the Yizhou forest is like an outdoor version of the Tomb…by which I mean it is EVIL. Even worse than that teleport forest in Wei.
At least it’s cleared up.
Damn…this game is so good, it’s better than the first 2. I can’t stop playing. But, me being me, I’m trying to level up to level 10 before taking on Yuan Shu in the cave. It may be overkill, but I love beefing up my warriors before a good boss fight.
It’s a better habit than me, I tend to just run from people cause I get so frustrated from battles.
I finished the game at level 45 this way, so you should probably be a higher level by the time you finish.
I’ve got everyone except for Zhao Yun at level 21 so far, Zhao Yun is at 19. I expected Xiahou Dun to be harder, but I whipped out all of my Limits, had Zhang Fei summon the Orochi a couple times, and pummeled him with Liu Bei’s magic and Guan Yu’s physicals while Zhao Yun healed. Such a quick battle…
Right now, I’m preparing to speak with Liu Biao.
Laughs, I still can’t do that tomb without bursting into tears of aggrevation.

The tomb is pretty bad, but the enemies from then on don’t use Sleep or Confuse as much, except some of the bosses.
I know I put up the path to the boss, and I could have sworn I put the way out too, but it’s not on there. Oh well.
Is it just me, or does Zhao Yun have a higher chance of getting a critical hit? I’m not getting them all the time, but over half the time I get a critical, it’s him. It might be an item equipped (like a steed), but I don’t think so.
In addition to that, it seems Zhang Fei is the only one who makes counter attacks (he’ll jump and it’ll say Miss and then he attacks, even if his guage isn’t full).
Also, can you give me a list of generals who join your party throughout the game?
Crits are random, it might be the steed.

Aw…I was hoping for Wei Yan…
Also, I added to my previous post (too late it seems). Anyway, it seems Zhang Fei is the only one who counter attacks, so is it possible that each character may have some special bonus ability (ie: Zhang Fei can counter attack, Zhao Yun has a better chance for criticals, etc). Or do I just have to keep dreaming? :P
