Yeah I basically would have to agree with all of the above said…
I played it on one of my friends PSP. Unfortunately since it wasn’t mine I wasn’t able to play for too long, but I got to about the same area. I’d like to pick it up again though.

The reason why I didn’t push too hard while playing it (well, I guess I did go through most of the game) is because I played the very well-done remake on the Advance not much earlier (I think it was the advance). I plan to get back to it soon. :)

June 29, 2008 at 7:27 pm #23572antlan87ParticipantI have Dawn of Souls, and I stopped playing it after I couldn’t find one of the dungeons, what with the total lack of instructions in game.

June 29, 2008 at 11:53 pm #23574DragonAtmaModeratorIt’s just… the later FFs are as if they copied Song Yong and Song Ren’s stats and spread them among the various enemy generals. Liberally.

What do you mean, exactly?
June 30, 2008 at 3:18 pm #23576Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI think he just meant that the later FF’s are easy.

June 30, 2008 at 5:34 pm #23578Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterI liked the difficulty balance in FFIV and FFV (especially the J versions where you do like half damage). FFVI was where it started to get too easy. FFX was the pinnacle where it was absurdly easy save for a few Seymour fights (the Seymour fight on the snowy mountain was somewhat hard I think).

I think companies figured out that it means they sell quite a bit more. Think back to the NES days, and how absurdly difficult some of those games were. I doubt today’s gamers would tolerate them.

I concur. They either can’t tolerate them or just aren’t coherent with the style. Shit was a whole different world back then.
July 1, 2008 at 2:49 pm #23581Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea agreed, there were so many non-playable NES games because of the difficulty, even for veteran gamers. Let alone newer gamers who would easily be put off…ultimately video games have turned into what the mainstream wants – pretty games (graphics unfortunately are #1 to most) with subpar gameplay and generally are easy.

July 1, 2008 at 4:49 pm #23583Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterExactly, that was the turning point.
