On 10 / 10 / 07 I will be getting the Tactics remake (and also a PSP). That will be sweet (though there was a terrible lag in the JP version that may or may not carry over to the US)

GamingWorld says the lag is fixed.
also the remake looks sweet (Dark Knight, Balthier, and an intelligible translation? fuck yeah!) but I don’t want to start over since my Chapter 2 save on my PSX emulator has about 12 hours put into it and Ramza is level 20-something
Oh that’s not that far to restart. This is one of those games I played through like 10-15 times so I guess I won’t mind doing it again but getting a somewhat new adventure. The cutscenes look pretty nice.
And I’ll believe the lag when I see it. I’ve heard it’s improved but is still noticeable.

I guess we have very different perceptions of "playing a game for 12 hours", because that’s pretty rare for me!

One very big change is they redid the translation. Remember how everyone talked in FFXII? Now everyone talks like that in the FFT remake.
yeah, if you look at some of the screens, you’re like WOW THEY AREN’T SAYING THINGS LIKE "EAAAAGH" OR "OH SHI- MONSTERS!"
I’ll miss the old translation, guaranteed. Too entertaining to read and I almost always prefer the classic.
FF4 and FF5 are good examples of this – the new dialog runs on too much and doesn’t get to the point – it’s overbearing.

"Tortured Thieves" and "He’s a loser. Who’s lost sight of life!" are my favorites.
That and "kill Dycedarg’s older brother".
