Maybe the PSP translation fits better with the Victorian English like Vagrant Story and FF12 use, but the PSX version had some great lines too… and I’m not a fan of the name changes.
I had a random encounter (in Chapter 1) where I had a Chocobo as a guest. I got my hopes up thinking it would join me afterwards, but no such luck. So how do i get monsters to join me?
Doesn’t the Mediator job get an ability to do that? That’s a bit farther along in the game though.
Wow I forgot about the name changes…that definitely is lame.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingThe Mediator class has the skill Invite, which works like Charm but it’s permanent. After the battle you get the option of letting the enemy unit join you. Obviously it doesn’t work on bosses (not even on those generics with special portraits, like the guy at Gariland).
Yeah, the name changes were a little odd. That is always one of the stranger parts of dealing with a new translation. Also old favorite lines. I was horrified when I found out the ‘spoony bard’ line was dropped from FF IV GBA. But those things aside, the translation is sold, easier to follow, and quite well written.
