KeymasterSorry for the randomness but Lunar: Silver Star, Lunar: Eternal Blue, Vay, Shining Force CD, and Dark Wizard are some of the best RPGs ever and the Sega CD is one of the top consoles ever.

ParticipantI’m not very familiar with the Sega CD, but I might get a ROM for Dark Wizard one day.

KeymasterSega CD and other sweet systems like the 32X and 3-DO were what kids like I did after the 16-bit systems were released. 3-DO is a whole other thread in itself…

ParticipantYou forgot to mention Snatcher you little jerk. It may be a text based game, but it was fun investigating the murders.

Keymasterhaha, I tend to jump around on my projects as you see. I can’t explain it, I just wanted to play Sega CD.
And <gasp> I might do Shining Force CD next.
Actually I’m just curious to see how many people actually search for Sega CD guides, to be honest with you.

KeymasterFucking Sega CD backup just reset on me. I love having 100’s of hours of data deleted that makes me happy.
I’m going to need to play this on emulator to avoid this type of heartbreak in the future, but i must learn how first.

ParticipantWhat is there to learn with a sega CD emulator? It’s the same as any other. The only problem is that a lot of games can’t quick save that well. When you load them they get screwed up a lot. It might be because the sega cd streams so much from the disk. Does your emulator not recognize a CD or DVD drive? I know how to fix that.

ParticipantGotta hate it when that happens.

KeymasterYeah, it doesn’t recognize a disc drive, so that’s part of the problem. Also isn’t there a way to copy the file into an ISO or BIN file so I don’t have to load the cd up each time? I’m using Gens, not sure if that matters. Sega CD is just too advanced and new I think.

ParticipantAre you using Gens for the Sega CD games? I’ve only ever used cartridge-based emulators so I don’t know too much about ISOs and whatnot, but there should be a way to get the file on your computer. Try looking for a tutorial or something on an emulator site.

I had the same problem for suikoden 1 and 2. What I did is that I imaged both games with clone CD. Search Clone CD in google, and you should easily find a demo version which will let you make an image of the disk.

KeymasterGreat Perhong, that’s what I had wanted to do in the first place. I’ll look into it now.
Okay so I got that CloneCD thing. So am I supposed to "Copy CD"? When I do that it just makes an IMG, CCD, and SUB file and none of them load up in Gens. Moreover I think I’m a retard and should probably be doing something more productive than trying to get my Sega CD games to work on emulator lol

KeymasterGot it working. Thanks twaWillams. It was those damn BIOS Files that I couldn’t find at first….although it runs like shit off the disk, and like you say i cant use saved state. Plus I like to use the speedup function and it’s messing the CD up when I make it go that fast. I really need to find a way to get it in iso format.
edit: okay I went and found Rom Hustler and got the game there, so I don’t have to use the cd. The saved states still don’t work for some reason…
