ParticipantOk, I just installed ROTK 11 PUK onto my computer and I can’t get it to run. Yes, it’s bootleg, and no, it wasn’t my idea. I was able to successfully install it, but when I click to start the game… nothing happened!
Here’s my question, any you guys know anything about computers. I looked that the requirements and I meet MOST of them. I don’t meet the speed requirement nor do I have directx9.0c. The directx issue can easily be solved, but the speed issue is not. But my question is: does a game simply not start if you don’t meet either of the requirements above? I didn’t get an error message either. I just click and nothing.

ParticipantHow much time did you waited when you "started" the game? It’s a stupid question, but it might still be that.
Sometimes, when the speed is not high enough, it might take 2 minutes, or even more before it loads! (Ask me about UT2004…)
If it’s not that, it might be the RAM, or simply your CPU that isn’t powerful enough.

ParticipantI don’t know, I think it might be another reason. For one thing, even if your PC isn’t powerful enough, the damn program would at least say something about it. When I clicked on the game, absolutely nothing happened.
I think I might be screwed over by another reason. You see, my relative bought me the PUK version which means they probably just bought an add-on without the actual game there! I looked at my past ROTK games installed and I notice there’s always an option to play the regular game or the PUK game. With 11, I only see the option to play PUK. Maybe I just got a shell and not the whole game. Because my computer meets most of the other requirements including RAM. It’s just that my CPU speed is off by .5GHZ.

Participant… I see… You are skrewed if you don’t have the game itself, and only the add on…

ParticipantI would have to agree, can you view the files on the disc and see if there is a program setup or anything. If you have the full version there should be alot of base files, senarios and characters and stuff, if you have the add on non e of that kind of stuff will be there, only the extra things that get added to the game. You know what I mean?

ParticipantActually, I do see the senarios and other info so now I’m rethinking what is going on. I know there’s no music files, but there are tons of movies.
Also, it says the game requires Windows 2000 or XP, but all I have is ME, could that be the problem? Last time I checked, the game could be played on ME. Would the game totally do nothing if I have the wrong OS? Again, I click on the game and just nothing happens.

ParticipantSome games won’t allow you to install them if you have a shitty computer, while others are made of retarded and fail. Like I once tried to play Morrowind with my old 64MB of RAM PC, I’d run it, and nothing would happen.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

ParticipantOh, I was able to completely install the game. Everything seems fine except nothing happens when I run it. I think the regular version is actually hidden in the CD because it is bootlegged. I see these really large BIN files in the media section and I suspect they might have something to do with it. I’m going to go check around to see if I can find out more.

ParticipantWin ME sucks, it may have been the worst OS microsoft ever created. I wouldn’t doubt for a second that it is causing the problem. Besides that, have you tried running the game from the disc, without doing a full install, I know some game like diablo can do that.

ParticipantYes it is pretty shitty. windows 3.1 is better than that shitty shitty shit.

ParticipantIt’s worse than poop.
I was trying to format my buddies hard drive with ME on it and it won’t let you because it doesn’t recognize it’s own boot disk.
