ModeratorYou need the text edits for sprites that are developed by LYS that you can copy into the DOAEditor folder. Its in one of these posts but I forget which one… Anyways, if you open the folder w/ DOAEditor, you will notice there is a folder with a bunch of notepad documents.
One should say "sprites" or something to that effect with entries in it like 00-Advisor 01- Liu Bei, etc. Well LYS made one with EXTRA entries that will add new hex values for DOAEditor to read from which will allow your new sprites to be "editable" in DOAEditor, BUT you wont be able to see a preview unfortunately, but they will show up in game.

ParticipantThanks Sonic… I've been reading a good bit of the guide, and also playing around with a few things. I've got some very innovative ideas in my head, and somewhat into planning. One major thing I am going to have to learn is how to change warps and names using hex… that will be my major accomplishment, and will mean so much. I would like to be able to work in new sprites and portraits, but from reading the guide, that may be a bit above me. We'll see. That will likely be one of the last things to get changed. If I can figure out the warps and such, things will be looking really nice. I think some of you will be impressed.
Also been doing some further homework and such… finding a few obscure Liu Biao generals to get in there (basically free-lancing with stats as there isn't much knowledge/info… which helps with some balancing issues)…
Is there a place that lists out the progression chart of the new troop progressions? I'd certainly like to utilize them, but I am unsure of what leads to what.

KeymasterAwesome to hear cabalpapa. Liu Biao mod could be good; not many great generals in his party (at least for an extended period of time). But a lot of great warlords that were in his service for a time.

Moderatorafter modding a bit you learn how they work unless you're using the IPS scales which pretty much spell it out aka High to Low, Low to High, etc.
Zhang Fei = Always High
Guan Yu = High-Medium
Zhao Yun = Low-High
Ma Chao = Medium
Huang Zhong = High to Low
Unknown hex 83 = low
Unknown hex 84 = medium-low
Unknown hex 87/89 = medium
Those are what I remember from memory and how they flow from beginning to end game

ParticipantJust letting everyone know that this is still in the works. I'm working on it really slowly due to other things that are more important right now. But there is still planning and development taking place.

ParticipantAlrighty, this is now fully back underway. I had some other priorities that needed cleared up first, but this mod is now a full go once again. I am starting with all the things I know how to do, and will work from there. Thanks again all for all the info. I'm not sure if I can quite grasp all of it, but there is only one way to find out…

ParticipantPerhaps someone could help me some with a little further research. I have done tons, but I am looking for some info on Liu Biao before and during the YT rebellion. If I could find some more specifics on that information, it would be wonderful. Thank you all in advance!
The progress is going slowly but carefully. I have an interesting playtesting method used for some of the small things I have started to implement, and have already made some balancing notes for later edits. My list of generals is populating well, and I have some very good chapters and fights already set up or in store. I hope I can find success in the areas of programming the gullwing locations (along with entrance and exit locations), portrait and sprite modifications, and switching around items/prices. I would also like to do some minor editing with tactics, but if I can figure out these other things, the tactics should be easy (seeing as I think I actually understood sonic/midknight's description of how to change those. Hopefully I can also figure out how to change city names and such. I know all this information is in the hacking guide… I just have to find it and understand it well enough to execute it. I'm pretty serious with this one, though!

ModeratorLiu Biao bio: http://kongming.net/novel/sgz/liubiao.php
Notable officers: Huang Zhong, Huang Zu, Yi[n] Ji, Kuai Liang, Kuai Yue, Liu Qi, Wen Pin[g].
We also have Liu Bei's entourage and Gan Ning joining temporarily (although it may be more-than-temporary is Liu Biao is the main character), plus Zhuge Liang/Pang Tong/etc., plus he may be around to promote Wei Yan (who was a common soldier under him and Han Xuan).
And, of course, he has JIN XUAN, CONQUEROR OF WORLDS on his payroll.

ModeratorQuote:And, of course, he has JIN XUAN, CONQUEROR OF WORLDS on his payroll.
Quote:Hopefully I can also figure out how to change city names and suchThats easy, just use the doaetable in the tables folder that comes with DOAEditor. Type in the city name via hex and it should pull it up around the center of the hex. For example, Jian An would be 19 38 30 3D 0A 10 3D. 0A is the blank space. 19= J 38= i etc.
<======= Powder Addict Rank attained! :huohu:
Use a search option in your hex editor and it should pull it up considering you spell it right. Keep in mind your new town name has to be short enough to fit in the original slot. If you make it too long and overwrite too much, you'll mess up your mod, just be careful.

ModeratorYa I think the town name thing is in the guide right?

ModeratorNot sure if it is or not, that is merely the method I use.

ParticipantDragon, while I appreciate your hand put suggestions, they kind of make me feel like you think I know nothing of the person/group I am making a mod about. I have a huge core of the info, and was just seeking some earlier info if it can be found. I appreciate you taking the time to help, though.
Sonic, thank you. That issue isn't at the top of my to do list, but it will eventually get there. I am going to have a lot of work in the next few days, so I anticipate a lot of mistakes, as well, lol.

ModeratorAh, my apologies; do keep in mind, though, that sometimes people miss something obvious. I know that I've made that kind of blunder more than once!

ModeratorQuote:I know that I've made that kind of blunder more than once!Yeah mean Atma
Its surprising, you'd think with such notable talent under him that good ol' Liu Biao would've gotten more done/accomplished. Granted, if he was indecisive that could've been one issue. Another just might've been wrong place, wrong time I guess. Didn't Liu Biao give the land to the 4 governors in Jing Zhou? My history for those guys are rather lacking as I've always been a Shu fan mostly, usually because I liked having 1 city vs. all of cao cao's kind of challenge…. Can no one provide me with a decent challenge!? Bwahahaha!
