To fix slot 2:
0x3853B: "75"->"7E"
0x7EDF1: "75"->"7E"
0x80022: "75"->"7E"
0xFEDF1: "75"->"7E"
Then copy memory from 7500-756F to 7E00-7E6F
Will look into the menu and other stuff.
Without slot 3 most of $7810-$7FFF is unused. I'm using a little bit for page switches and status page.
June 5, 2013 at 5:01 am #45490MiDKnighTModeratorTo remove slot 3:
0x34B70: 03–>02
0x34B9B: 07–>03
Now we have a working slot 1 and 2 and slot 3 is gone and we get most of $7810-$7FFF to play. :thumleft:

June 5, 2013 at 7:01 am #45492cabalpapaParticipantLud, any particular reason I am getting rebel forces with 180ish weapon at first battle of QingZhou? the ones in the field look normal, though…
June 5, 2013 at 7:05 am #45493cabalpapaParticipantUpon attacking again after engaging them in the field, their weapon levels are appropriate. Some sort of coding bug had their levels very high when i didnt face anything in the field yet.
June 5, 2013 at 11:44 am #45494ludmeisterParticipantCabalpapa, you are exactly right: Wei forces do have a 180-weapon… this bug you found is due to the fact that running into a random encounter sets the region of a battle. Evidently, running into a castle battle does not.
So, the "region" value is set to zero (Wei) at the start of the game (and your army doesn't require food either!) until you actually get into your first battle. Then, the region is set to one (for Yellow Turbans… appropriate) and your castle battles will be much more appropriate.
When all else fails... manipulate the source code.

Thank you for your work on slot 2 and 3! I have slot 3 removed, but I'm having problems locating the bytes that you referenced as far as slot 2 was concerned… mostly, the bytes you referenced were not 75's.

Could you give me a few bytes around each "75" so that I could narrow down the search for the correct ones in my ROM? Thank you very much, your help on this is very much appreciated!

June 5, 2013 at 1:52 pm #45496MiDKnighTModeratorOh, if you don't have IPS patch 1.3 applied you wouldn't have to make those changes. Slot 2 should work though…
June 5, 2013 at 2:22 pm #45497MiDKnighTModeratorJust started playing this in chapter 1. It's pretty fun! Skirmish and Herbalism are uber powerful right now and it's fun to get Duel this early which becomes more useful. Even if it's just to get someone "doubted".
June 5, 2013 at 4:11 pm #45498MiDKnighTModeratorQuote:Alas! So long, slot three.Indeed. But it is for the greater good.
June 11, 2013 at 4:44 am #45499MiDKnighTModeratorOnward into Dong Zhuo's land. I love how useful Duel is early game. I'm gonna have to introduce Duel early in the future as well. It becomes a lot more useful early game…
June 11, 2013 at 4:40 pm #45500ludmeisterParticipantSkirmish, and especially Duel and Berserk make strong but less intelligent officers very useful. I especially love, in the Shu/Wu areas, how Berserk actually breaks through the Vanish tactic! That finally fixes one major issue with Remix v2.0– you could load up on highly intelligent officers and walk through the game. Now, you gotta be careful of which tactics each officer has to offer; there are some very useful tactics that are replaced in high-Int repertoires that other officers may still keep.

That's why I made them mutually exclusive later on. You can use one or the other but not both.
June 12, 2013 at 7:49 am #45502MiDKnighTModeratorUp to Jing Zhou now… Just got Huang Zhong and Wei Yan so my party is uber. I'll have to decide on a starting lineup between ZY, GY, ZF, YS, XS, HZ, and WY. So many good officers, so few spots. So many weapons in this game. Seems like there's something new every town!
June 12, 2013 at 12:01 pm #45503sonic.penguinModeratorFor the new weapons, we'd really need a shop expansion making all shops sell the same amount of items as Chang An. Gold gains would really be an even bigger player.
