ModeratorWell, thankfully this must've turned out better than I thought as the feedback is rather sparse… err actually mostly nonexistent lol. Glad everyone is enjoying the new story and all the hard work that went into modding and assembly of the new code created by everyone here.
Again, let me know if you're beta testing and will put some credits in game for you!

ParticipantHey Sonic,
Sorry for the extended hiatus I've taken. You know some of what's been up, but man has life been hectic lately (and I've been focusing on a lot of different games, trying to get updates onto my site too, with varying degrees of success). I haven't forgotten about playtesting your mod, and I just downloaded it. I'm putting it on my phone so I can play it there (for some reason, Destiny of an Emperor just works on a smartphone :ninja:
I can't promise I'll make fast progress… but I think I'm gonna start tonite. Thanks for all your hard work, and I'm excited to try it out.
When all else fails... manipulate the source code.

ModeratorOn your phone huh? hah, thats odd, but hopefully it works! And no problem, get around to it when you can, but when you do, hopefully you will be able to recognize some of the marks of your code :)

ParticipantSonic,
You really have put together a quality mod. I'm beginning Chapter 6, the Kyushu (sp?) region, and am about level 27. It does work just fine on my Android phone (Tiger NES emulator). The Vigor tactic has been a blast, with my Agility enhancements :geek:
I found it a little difficult to get my bearings early on (but that's to be expected because you changed so much of the map, and I've memorized the map because I've played DoaE so much! :thumleft: ) Thought the officers that you fight in Chapter 1 were a bit overpowered, so much so I grinded to level 8 (or 9) before I completed Chapter 1. Since Oda Nobunaga was the main antagonist there, that's also understandable, however.
Since I got the Tachis and Bokutos in Chapter 4, I've found the game's difficulty level much more forgiving. Oh yeah, and Flare/Tsunami make mincemeat of a lot of boss battles before Kyushu… especially when Hanbei (sp?) uses them. I used Tadaoki as my strategist and had Hanbei leading my troops. This made it very difficult for the enemy to Negate my tactics (Vigor, Guard, and even Zeal) and gave me a huge advantage.
I think my main gripe with the game is early on, it's a bit tedious to advance because your enemies are so powerful, and your equipped with nothing more than Kamas (and a fair bit later on, Spears) and those weapons just cannot dent serious warriors, unless you have a decent numerical superiority. Until I found the Bokutos in Chapter 4 after getting Hanbei, I was literally saying, "Okay… seriously needing more offense or defense… take your pick."
All in all though, I'm very glad that I'm sticking with the mod, and am enjoying it a lot (I love the portraits! That in itself represents tons of work  ). Sonic, your efforts have revitalized my interest in DoaE, and when I get some time out from my other projects, I want to polish Ludmeister's Remix (which by its very nature intends to improve on the original game, not create a new story per se), and after that to start on my Wu mod. Here are some of the innovations that have me seriously considering the possibilities for the Wu mod:
- The way you changed up the order of the caves
- Your fun new events… it seems you edited the events of lots of different people, even placing Billeting in places where I was not expecting
- Simply changing the map.
Also, it makes me wonder if I can figure out how to change the way Chapters advance in the game, and what I can do to take needlessly annoying events out or modify them (like the Zhuge Liang exchange, which always takes more time than I think it should).
I'll check in later, after I've made more progress. Awesome work, man.

Yeah, and it is a main reason I have to spread out access to weapons b/c damage can be doubled or tripled.

Since Oda Nobunaga was the main antagonist there, that's also understandable, however.I did update the mod once already b/c I found the battle vs. Shingen to be beyond brutal. I noticed as well that running into Nobunagas officers before you arrive @ the first castle can be somewhat disheartening, but in after a few battles and just a little bit of gear updates it became easier. Maybe make the treasure cave more accessible?

This made it very difficult for the enemy to Negate my tactics (Vigor, Guard, and even Zeal) and gave me a huge advantage.Yeah, Hanbei (aka Shigeharu) is considered to be the Zhuge Liang of that era, so that is how I intended it to be. The Tachis and Bokutos do make it a lot easier, but it was actually REALLY hard to decide when to put new weapons it whilst keeping the game still challenging. Having Tachi's in the previous chapter would make the whole concept of "rifling" down the Takeda which is historically how they were defeated, much less true to history. I figured w/ the super stated Mitsuhide + the uber leveling gift upon defeating him, that things would be a little easier until you get into Chapter 4ish.

Thanks for at least giving it a shot, Im glad youre liking some of those changes as I was a little concerned as to what people might think. The portraits were about 1/2 the work in this mod, especially having to hand draw each one on paint…
Did you ever find the Red Demon btw? How about the surprise w/Muneyoshi? The caves I spread out so that it wasn't so bottom heavy, as it seemed all the long caves were at the end of the game and none early on. Map changes take a long time as well, just wait until Kyushu and beyond :)

ModeratorUpdated a new patched rom.
*Noticed a few typos, now fixed.
*Some castles under certain instances weren't exiting in the correct locations
*Some minor troop bumps to officers near the beginning of the game

ModeratorWill be adding a new update soon. Will fix a slight bug w/ soldier bars, nothing major though.

ModeratorFound another bug, upon death during the campaign for kyushu, you will be transported to a non-existent castle, aka the former Gui Yang, which is essentially cut-off from access. Will fix this in addition to soldier bars soon.
