Participanti dont think so sonic, you've already proved that the game is going to be awesome, and going by your last couple of mods, you do an excellent job at rearranging the map to make it look like a completely new game. im with zylo i need a fix for this too :D

ModeratorGreat to see a good show of support, but I'm stalled on a transition between chapters 7/8 and whether or not I want to make Cao Cao recruitable…. He'd have like 75% less soldiers than everyone else but hey, its Cao Cao :)
So… anyone want to help with some sprites and portraits? :huohu:

ParticipantI'd help, but I'm not very adept at such things.
I'm just an idea man lol.

Participantwhy would he have to have such lowered troop count?

ModeratorQuote:why would he have to have such lowered troop count? One word: balance. Getting too many people with Zhao Yun-like stats with Zhang Fei soldier counts makes the game just demi-gods versus nubs since your officers have 0 weakness whether in troops or in low intelligence so tactics are successful against them. I remember playing someones mod with all the officers having 255 STR and 255 INT and it was just like….
"okay…"
Anyways, as a consequence in Flames of Wu, having Cao Cao join (180ish STR and 250ish INT) can only be handicapped by giving him A LOT less soldiers, especially if they grow and aren't static. (ie: Unknown hex 83 for those DOAEditor folks)
I've been trying to lower the INT of more people in this mod as opposed to Rise of Ieyasu where I felt so many people were just 246 guy vs. 248 guy and everyone was souped-out. So I'm trying to make officers like Gan Ning more 'real' meaning if they have 240 STR, they're probably pretty dumb. Granted, 5 tigerish generals are exceptions.

ModeratorI was thinking the same thing… While I was at it and redoing Cao Cao, I also reworked the Gan Ning photo as I felt I could improve upon my prior work. I also touched up my previous Yan Yan portrait as well.

Yan Yan touch-up:

ParticipantCant see much of a change on Yan Yan but Gan Ning looks alot more scruffy, as he should being a filthy pirate lol.
November 7, 2012 at 12:10 am #43097sonic.penguin
ModeratorScruffy filthy pirate eh? lol :thumleft: Yeah, I just felt it needed more shading and details so that's the main reason. Yan Yan basically got some beard touch-ups and highlights on his armor. This is starting to sound more like a beauty salon, or in Gan Ning's case, an uglifying salon?

ParticipantYou're doing a hell of a job though man, if this is even half as epic as your last two mods I'll still be really impressed, but you seem to be going beyond that with this one.
Still eagerly anticipating its release!

ParticipantSince the recent roms have all been expanded, my psp nes emulator no longer is able to run these mods. It's too bad because I have no inspiration to play on PC anymore. I like to play DoaE at anywhere and at any possible given time.
DoaE gave birth to Huo Hu.
