ParticipantI’d put Cao Cao’s war above a normal person like at 60-75 (I remember reading on Kongming long ago that a typical peasant would have stats of around 30 in everything, and that a soldier would be the same, but have a war around 60).
What ticks me off are those officers with "legendary" horses: Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang (how can he escape with a fucking wheel chair!?), Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Lu Bu. So goddamned annoying to just keep chasing them until they have no cities left to escape to.
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

ParticipantI know it Commie, THe horses are lame. I just want to catch and execute Cao cao every time I play ROTK.

ParticipantIn 9, I like to start playing as whoever I want to play and Cao Cao, then have Cao Cao fire all of his officers then leave him to the AI. Otherwise it just ends up in just the two of us fighting while everyone else is watching and jerking off.

ParticipantI pick XU Chang and my personal army crush him and execute him ASAP. Actully he puts up one hell of a fight.

ParticipantI can beat him in X almost immediately, but then my forces are so spread out and weakened that I’ll get gang-raped by the others.

ParticipantWhen I play the earlier scenarios in VIII, for some reason Cao Cao usually gets gobbled up by Dong Zhuo or Yuan Shao. Sometimes even Tao Qian. I guess he doesn’t have enough officers at that point.

ParticipantI like 4. One time, Liu Bei sat idle for like ten years, then he just went crazy and took out all of Yuan Shao and Cao Cao.

ParticipantAh Wall of fire, damn good game. I like to start as Yuan Shu in the second scenario, maybe first the one where Dong Zhou is the power house, and fight him off.

Participanti usually eat up all of the small empires(zhang lu, ma teng, liu biao, tao qian, etc.) then aim for cao cao before he gets any stronger and also i waste him first to get all his officers and his advisers and to get his war spoils. then i take over wu (for some reason they are slow in building their army).
with me its the opposite, cao cao gobbles up dong zhuo and yuan shao. the reason however is probably because ive taken away their strengths(recruited their strong officers and advisers) like hua xiong, lu bu, yan liang, wen chou, zhang he, xu huang, zhang liao, taishi ci, tian feng and so on. i always do that. its the best way to eliminate enemies imo. hahahahaha

KeymasterYes I agree, I find the key in most RTK’s I’ve played to be acquiring officers with soldiers allowing you to use someone else’s resources to fund your army, taking a bit out of your enemy at the same time. Allying with an enemy and manipulating them to betray you helps in this process…

ParticipantYep, I just hate dealing with Cao towards the end. But usually by the time I et that far I am sick of that scenario, so I don’t want guys around that can put up a fight against my massive forces.

ParticipantAh, it feels good to see others talking about the classics. It sure brings back memories of chasing people down.
BTW, am I the only one who finds ROTK’s battles to be too shallow? I just feel very uninspired when I fight in any of them. When you read the stories, you hear about all these wonderful plans being… planned, and you wish you could do the same instead of clicking the "confusion" tactic as Zhuge Liang while praying it actually confuses Zhang Fei.

ParticipantYeah TF, the battles are as shallow as my woman, and that’s pretty bad.

ParticipantTF, for one thing, it’s just the limits of a game system. You simply can’t have a game that complex at this point.
Well, maybe you could if you spent lots of time and money, but KOEI seems to be satisfied with putting out the same basic gameplay over and over again, and almost no other companies work on ROTK stuff anymore.
