Rise of Lu Bu 2.0 is nearly complete! So… new mod ideas are needed for a mod w/ a tentative title of
I need suggestions for a new "Liu Bei" type character. Examples might be:
ROTK:
Liu Zhang
Shi Xie
Meng Huo (but there is a Nanman Mod)
Jin Xuan (this one might be fair game…)
SENGOKU:
Date Masamune
Honganji Kosa
Nobunaga Oda
Tokugawa Ieyasu (but in Rise of Ieyasu mod)
I'm tending to learn more towards the "unknowns" as they don't have to lean so historically and can be more open ended or those who might have been great but experienced an untimely death. Let me know what you think!
In case you still haven't tried any of these related mods before, here are the links to them:
Well, there are already Liu Zhang / Meng Huo / Jin Xuan mods. Liu Zhang being the only one that is complete I think.
How about a Tao Qian mod ? Or He Jin / Han? I was going to say Gongsun Zan but MiDKnighT has that one. Kinda off the wall but it'd be cool to make a bunch of monsters and make a Dragon Warrior type game in the DoaE engine.
To be honest, the historical RTK stuff is all I care at this point. A mod that is highly fictitious doesn't interest me much, or any one that isn't DoaE style.
I'm leaning towards something where there aren't such beefy generals to start off with which might eliminate the plethora of officers under He Jin. Tao Qian I think is too closely related to Liu Bei and that story line though.
Dragon Warrior eh? Well how about something similar to an Orochi series?
Wow you are a mod maniac. That's awesome though.
I vote for "Shogun" but you'd have to watch the miniseries first. Main character would be Blackthorne but he'd never sit in the Liu Bei chair. I guess Lord Toranaga would have to sit in the Liu Bei chair.
If you do a ROTK story there are some ideas that don't have a great mod yet… Like:
- Ma Teng
- Wu (Sun clan) – this has been done but nobody has done a great one yet
- Liu Biao
- A later 3 kingdoms one (featuring people like Sima Yi, Liu Chan, Cao Rui, Deng Ai, Sima Yan, etc…)
- Or an early 3 kingdoms one where you get to use all the major warlords in a coalition against the Yellow Turbans (or Dong Zhuo if you prefer)
Hehe, the miniseries was cool, but that would be like a MidKnighT only mod eh?
Hmm, the Jin one would be interesting… After doing the Rise of Ieyasu mod, I think Wu is more doable as I am familiar with a few techniques of gullwing editing and warps such that would make it more believable as a starting area.
I am also leaning towards a combo mod only b/c it lets me recycle all my used portraits from ROI.
Ieyasu invades the 3 kingdoms… Oh wait…wrong time frame.
Ma Teng, that'd be a great one. No true advisor, just a bunch of brutes and guys with ~150 INT like Ma Chao / Ma Dai / Pang De
I really want to see a Wu mod. There's been a couple basic-edited versions so far, but we need that sonic.penguin touch PLZPLZPLZPLZPLZPLZPLZZZZZZ
Yeah I want that too, a complete Wu mod will surely draw my attention once its released.
Actually, the Jin mod idea was growing on me until I thought… having a force using almost exclusively tactics? That might = just extremely abusive save state hacking… Didn't realize there were so many Wu fans… I never really got into Wu particularly because in ROTK they just seemed so chock full of good officers and in such an ideal location.
At least w/ Liu Bei he wandered everywhere being chased and totally outnumbered all the time
If this were the case…. who would be Liu Bei/Guan Yu/Zhang Fei roles?
Im not that familiar w/ tons of Wu stuff but I do know the basics:
*trading the imperial seal for troops
*conquering a bunch of weenie minor lords
*death of Sun Ce
*Chi Bi victory
*killing guan yu
*total loss to Du Yu due to corrupt politicians
Likely Wu campaign:
(1) Attack on Dong Zhuo
(2) Supporting LORD YUAN SHU
(3) Conquest of Yang province
(4) Fighting against LORD YUAN SHU because he declared himself emperor
(5) Border fights against Liu Biao, hopefully more effective than IRL.
(6) Chi Bi, Chi Bi, Chi Bi, Chi Bi, Chi Bi…
(7) Yiling, then crushing Shu
(8) Crushing Wei & Jin
Liu Bei would be played by Sun Jian and, after death in the final Dong Zhuo battle at the start of chapter 2, Sun Quan.
Guan Yu would be played by Sun Ce.
Huang Gai would be played by Huang Gai.
I would assume that Sun Quan would come into play a bit later, though in a recruiting spot where you couldn't pass up (like the original Zhao Yun).
Sun Quan tried fighting on the front lines one time (Battle of Xiaoyao Ford, 214-215), and it was disastrous; he was nearly captured (and would have been if it wasn't for Ling Tong), Chen Wu died, all of Ling Tong's clsoe advisors died, and Ling Tong himself almost died.
Remember, Sun Quan's strong point is not commanding troops; Sun Quan's strong point is running a kingdom and attracting skilled followers (both of which he does very well). As a doae officer, fair stats for him would be 80-90 str and 220-225 int. Of course, Jin Xuan is the first to tell you that stats don't have to be what they should be…
Im assuming you meant Zhang Fei?
Anyways, instead of starting w/ Sun Jian, Im feeling Sun Ce would be a good one to start with simplly b/c Sun Jian dies so early (Tao Qian?) and shortly after, Sun Ce dies (Liu Bei removal?) thats how I'm picturing it. From the Rise of Lu Bu mod I learned how to extend the life of Liu Bei's character a bit longer, it's just a matter of when I determine he would cash in… After Dong Zhuo?
I'm thinking Sun Quan stats possibly around 170ish Str, 230ish int
