Why is Yuan Yin wandering around the cave between Yang Zhou and Chang An?

And here’s Ji Ling… Is that little patch of land outside the cave considered Yuan Shu land?

KeymasterYep, it’s like that in a few areas. That’s one of them (also, on the other side of the cave, you can fight Yuan Shu people if you are close enough to the water).
There are a few other times where this occurs (near the end of Wu you can fight Wei soldiers).
The thing is, if you go into that cave right after you fight a Yuan Shu battle, all the enemies in there will be from Yuan Shu’s area.

ParticipantThere’s a place in Jingzhou where you can fight Wu soldiers.
Now there’s a place to get your ass whooped.

KeymasterLike where the bridge is built, by Guiyang? I didn’t know you could fight Wu soldiers there
I knew you could fight Jing Zhou enemies near the Salt Peter cave in Wu, allowing you to go through the cave with easy enemies.

ParticipantHmm, I never messed with that. Can’t you grind on the Rebel Forces that appear in that Jing Zhou area with Wu troops?
You have to remember, though; the very thing that makes you a nerd is that your enthusiasms are totally unrelatable and non-marketable to most of the world. For example, anime and celibacy. - Seanbaby

KeymasterI’d still like to know where you found the Wu soldiers in the Jing Zhou area Xian Zhu Xuande :) :pharaoh: I can’t believe I haven’t came across it…
One other thing worth noting is a huge area north of Fu Shui Castle in Shu is infested with weak Jing Zhou characters. Makes the trip to Luo Castle simple.
:vine:
Also, this is really crazy but I remember this from when I was little, probably 8 or 9 years old. In Yuan Shu’s area, southeast of Yuan Castle and Huai Nan Castle, I fought Wei soldiers. I remember it was 4 rebel forces and Xiahou Yuan. Just ran right away, and I haven’t seen a Wei officer near there since. I swear I’m not lying.

ParticipantI can’t remember now where I found those Wu officers in Jingzhou, but I seem to recall I actually encountered them right around the time I wrote that. And I’ve also encountered Wei officers very early in the game but that, too, is something I cannot remember the location of. There are actually quite a few spots through the game where you can encounter strange officers far too early in the game. We just don’t see them on a regular basis because those spots are quite a distance out from the normal travel paths, and given that many are away from cities, you don’t usually encounter them when you’re searching for an officer or grinding levels either.

ParticipantLYS, that really is a true fact. There are two squares beside the water right before Lei Bo's castle where you can fight Wei officers. It's surprising that you actually escaped Xiahou Yuan.

KeymasterHey Link…do you know those exact squares? You should take a screen shot of a battle or the squares that have the Wei battles, that would be great information.
To be honest I thought it was furthest southeast of Lei Bo's Castle (Yuan Castle). It's all a bunch of forest and I think the area is in there, but I wandered in there a while back and found nothing. So I'm not sure.

ParticipantI found a Youtube video a while ago, but I lost the link, so I'll take a screenshot when I get to that area in the Liu Zhang mod. And I sort of forgot the terrain of Yuan Shu area, I'll have to look at the map again.

ModeratorTake a look at http://www.gamefaqs.com/nes/563408-dragon-warrior/faqs/55534.
Althoguh it's DW1, that's pretty much how regions work in nes/snes games work. It's also why PNEOP exists in FF1!
EDIYT: Also this old picture shows it in DoaE:

They came very, very close to having a bunch of Wei battles in Dong Zhuo's area.
