ParticipantWhat do you think about broadening the thread to be able any and all enhancement ideas – beyond just tactics?

ParticipantNice! Can’t wait to leverage these and see them in action. I’m still in spreadsheet planning mode :)

ParticipantYes, there are a handful of regions with a before & after version. They are useful if you want to e.g. open up access to a new area of the map and tie it to a previous event having to have happened first. Qingzhou however is not very useful in this way because it changes, and then reverts back to its previous form (in the original game it is like 1 – no cave behind the city, 2 – cave behind the city, 3 – no cave again). I believe the events in question are Battle 02 and Battle 03. So if you space out the game time between those two battles you can have your updated map visible – however as soon as Battle 03 occurs it will revert back. And I believe Battle 03 is also tied to a major storyline event (probably, what triggers Liu Bei to take over throne in original DoaE) so its probably hard to delay that for too long.
What I found helpful when changing these dynamic areas was to do it like this:
1) make a copy/paste of your original region layout (e.g. from 0x30010 as Midknight mentions)
2) modify the map in DoaEditor to reflect how you want the updated layout to look and save the ROM
3) open the ROM in hex editor, copy/paste the new code and put it in the other location (e.g. move the code from 0x30010 to 0x34010)
4) paste the original code that you set aside in step 1 back into 0x30010In this way you can use DoaEditor to change the map for the updated area, even though DoaEditor doesnt technically allow for this (feature request idea!)
All of the dynamic regions have their duplicate area relatively in the same place also, e.g. 0x30010 is at 0x34010. Just making another one up, but for instance 0x30580 would be at 0x34580 – been a few years but I remember it was the case

ParticipantThere is at least one game event based on treasure that this expanded treasure feature breaks. Namely the Gold Key event where Guan Ping is waiting at the end. With the expanded treasure changes the event never fires and you never see Guan Ping.
Interesting! I did notice at some point in my mod development that the Guan Ping appearing event stopped working. I originally had this in place at the White Wolf Mountain event – killing Yuan Shao’s sons and getting the Yuan Key to ge the Military Tally that allows entry into Jingzhou. I had a guy appear (ex-Guan Ping) at the very entrance of the cave, who said a text that enabled the event which activated Zhang He in the field (“Pang Tong has gone out with his soldiers…” event in the original DOAE). But at some point it stopped working so I just made the Zhang He activation event associated with a normal townsperson in Yecheng. Originally I had it in the cave as the ex-Guan Ping guy to reward (punish?) people for walking out of the cave rather than using a Gullwing :)
Event 1033 – Qing Long received! (Appears to work anywhere, just assure that the person you may give this event to has more than one line.) Note from sonic.penguin: You can actually use this to gain Qing Long after a battle.
I believe I used this one in my mod to give the player Youyuu after defeating Huang Zhong in the hidden battle. Far as I know this one always worked ok – before/after the treasure chest mod. I’ll double check it though.

ParticipantYes I do plan to start (finally!) a v2.0 for King Wu of Wei. Please do let me know what graphic tiles you think had issues. Personally I prefer the original color scheme but that’s just a matter of taste. I don’t recall anything that was actually like, the wrong graphic etc.
Great to see it on Youtube as well btw!
