CommieCatGirlParticipant
I thought that Sun Ce traded the Imperial Seal to Yuan Shu for some land and about 2,000 troops. Though, I guess that both ways logically could work, with Yuan Shu giving the Sun family some land in a late payment for the seal.
But, didn’t Sun Jian fight against Liu Biao and Yuan Shu at the same time?

CommieCatGirlParticipantEnlisting seems to be the only way to improve your troop/health/energy count, but I have little idea on how to do the officers. Earlier I was attacked by Xiahou Dun and several other Cao officers with a city that was guarded only by Guan, but I managed to beat their commander and win. Then the next turn, I had all those Cao officers on my side. Also, sometimes officers just spontaneously join your force, I think it’s a good idea to just keep saying Yes whenever the yes/no counter pops up on the world map.

CommieCatGirlParticipantHere’s the character choosing deal, it’s the set of tiles that come after you select the scenario.
195: Liu Bei, Yuan Shao, Cao Cao, Yuan Shu, Sun family (Stoned Liu Bei look-alike), Liu Biao (? angry scruffy lookin’ dude), Lu Bu
208: Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Sun Family, Ma Family, Liu Zhang
214: Shu, Wei, Wu
I would guess that the tiles that come after are either choosing the level of difficulty or choosing the text speed like the other two DoaE had.

CommieCatGirlParticipantThat game started at 195 though, I didn’t do very well since Cao Cao has the entire map with the exception of three cities.
There are three scenarios you can choose from at the beginning: 195, 208, and 214 In that order with those tiles on the table. Later I’ll make some pictures explaining what I can for the beginning.

CommieCatGirlParticipantAlright, this is what I can figure so far.
The action point things allow you to do things, it seems that the more land you control the more of these points you get each turn. Also, the people in the city box represent different groups and the rank of their commander.
This is kinda confusing, the third bar from the top seems to randomly move, I’ve no idea what it is, and I’ve never seen that fifth bar from the top do anything at all. Also, if you notice that their are three pink boxes, each of these boxes represents a group. When you’re attacked the group in the first box takes point and the other ones are put into reserve, but you can switch them any time in battle.
I have like a table drawn up for this, might contain a few errors.
1. Organize
I. Reorganize units – Allows you to move officers from pink box to pink box
II. Rank – Designates officer as prefect of an area. Also, let’s you manipulate their rank in court, but I think the officer has to meet special requirements.
2. Domestics
I. Money? – This option increases the "Money?" bar, it decreases as you do stuff so I think it is money. (Causes picture of seedy man holding a scroll)
II. Farming- This option increases the "farming" bar, when you do it more, more houses appear around your city. (Picture of a man that looks like Liu Bei without the helmet carrying a bale of hay)
III. Wall/Trade- Increases wall/trade bar, decreases the money bar quite a bit (picture of horse-drawn vart with bags going into city.
IV. Back – Goes back to city menu
3. Military
I. Move- Moves group(s) to a different city (if you have one)
II. Attack- Sends group(s) to attack another city
III. Enlist- Increases troops/energy or what not (makes you more stronger)
IV. NULL- I’ve yet to see this bar do anything
V. Back
4. Diplomacy
I- Select an enemy leader, then select a group to send. (I don’t understand moon talk so I have no idea what happens, if you listen closely some tune might play telling you if it worked or failed(
5. Back
I. closes menu screen and goes back to city screen
6. Ploys
I. All tabs, except for the bottom, let you select a leader and then their officer for attempts at naughtyness
7. Ask for advice
I. Select an officer, then it will center on the city while they state their plan (either domestics or an attack, you can easily tell if it’s an attack by the arrows) This cause four items to pop-up, I’ll work on it later but I can tell you the the one on the far left is accept proposal, another one is to go back to city screen, and another is ask another officer.
8. Map
I. Views map of China and allows you to view little bars on your cities.
9. Stuff
I Save – Saves game, choose slot A or Slot B
II. Pass – Skips your current turn
III. End – Goes to the nifty Title screen
IV. Back
Alright, I figured this out a bit to.
Change unit allows you to change the current units type from these three choices
Horse- Move 1, Can move quicky but seems to be weak
Infantry- Move 3, pretty strong but moves very slow
Bow- Move 2, A medium unit, I think it’s stonger on walls, can see enemy units from about four spaces away
Selecting duel on a wall sometimes does a special attack which damages the wall a lot.
Health should’ve been called energy, attacking anything (even walls, a unit can be destroyed by attacking a wall) decreaes it, but dueling is fine unless you duel with a stronger officer (I’ve yet to figure what determines strength, I figure that Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are the second best duelists in the game, so I almost always use them)
Pushing that cancel button with no unit selected opens up a menu similar to the unit menu with these options.
I. End current turn
II. Switch to reserve group
III. Flee

CommieCatGirlParticipantI’ve messed around with this for about an hour, it’s confusing. So far I’ve figured out how to build my army up, attack people, and do domestics. But the game is damned nifty, even though I have no clue as to what the hell is going on.

CommieCatGirlParticipantI always score the lowest in all the business/industrial categories except for gambling, I always choose the issues that screw over big businesses and what-not. I’ll beat everyone when they do the rating for things like: largest police ratios, Largest public sector, and Most devote citizens
