Bobby Thigpen held the single-season saves record with 57 in 1990…until Francisco Rodriguez came along in 2008 and got 62 one-out saves to break Bobby’s record.
Super Baseball Simulator 1000 for SNES is based on the 1990 statistics.

1991 Chicago White Sox Team Analysis : My favorite team gets the shaft in this team. But you can hardly blame Culture Brain – how did they know Frank Thomas was about to blossom into one of the best hitters of the 1990’s? Frank Thomas (Don) has next to no power in this game which is a shame since he ended up hitting 30 in real life this year. Still worth hitting him in the middle of the lineup. Fisk sucks – he is terribly slow so if you plan on getting an extra base hit, it better be a home run. Mors (Tim Raines) is one of the fastest players in the game and can get in-the-park home runs if a grounder finds it’s way through the infield. MARIO and ROD are the other top hitters – MARIO in particular (Sammy Sosa) tends to have the most power on the team. ROD is underrated with his overall ability – I’m pretty sure it’s Daryl Boston but unsure about that spot. All things considered, still a below average offense because of the lack of elite power hitters.
The pitching is not very impressive either. Thigpen is a quality closer with great stamina, so if you can make it to the end RON should close it out. Jack McDowell (DONY) is much like Frank Thomas in this game – severely underrated as they were both on the cusp of superstardom heading into 1991. Hibbard and Perez (RYAN and DOUG) might be the best starters for the White Sox, mostly because of their side-arm motion which is easiest to strike guys out with. Overall, this team is one of the worst in the game, but a rewarding challenge for season use.
One quick note – RNDL sucks in this game yet for some reason Baseball Simulator likes to put these crappy players at the top of the order (think Spike Owens for Montreal, Jody Reed for Boston, and so on). I advise actually benching RNDL (Scott Fletcher) and put in Ron Kittle or Dan Pasqua – worse defenders but significantly more skilled at hitting. They aren’t natural second baseman but their performance on defense shouldn’t hurt you.
