Just wanted to give this thread the "new" thingy so you notice the front page. It’s a pretty minor update, but things are more official-looking now (as I finally submitted to romhacking.net).

I was joking to LYS earlier today (well, he probably didn’t know it was a joke) about how I could do this since I’m working on a super-secret mod of my own.
It is not, sadly, dynamically generated, but I did figure out how to rip the sprites, so re-ripping (using a magical tool known as FEIDIAN, which that great fellow D so kindly created) is easy.
The color, also, is a coincidence – It will not change the colors of the sprite with the background you select. Maybe in a later feature :)

Note: There looks like an odd clipping issue with some officers. I don’t know *how* this could’ve happened given the way I rip and display, so I’m going to write it off for now.
This simplifies the portrait value changing process tenfold.

Before this I actually ran two instances of DoaEd, one with the original ROM and one with the modified ROM. I would load the officers page at KMA and browse through, eyeballing the necessary parts, and I would assemble in a document the proper sequence for a portrait (while using the other instance of DoaEd to capture the values).
I won’t miss that. :lol:
