ModeratorWhere do I start on loading all map graphics into DoaEditor? From the beginning I guess. I’ll load PPU graphics first then try and figure out how to build the “tiles”.
I warn you all that overall this map thing is going to be 1000x harder than changing inn prices or something like that. Niahak’s code for regular map editing is already very complicated. Now adding all this tile building stuff…Yikes :retard:
That said, don’t expect this to be done as quickly as the previous DoaEditor features have come. This is a big job.
Edit: Actually I can’t start with loading the graphics. Come to think of it the reason the game loads the graphics last is because it needs all the color info first from the tiles, etc… Hmm…

ModeratorHey, thats cool. I know its a lot of work, but loading it from the rom and probably learning how to load the sprites from the rom will help in the map loading process? Its cool. Take your time because there’s tons of stuff to do atm

ModeratorMan, I wish Niahak would return to help with this. He did all the map stuff. I could be the Robin to his Batman on this one. Holy mapping code Batman.
Anybody heard from him?

ModeratorIt’s ok. I can do it. It will just take me more time than it would Niahak who’s already very familiar with the map code.

ModeratorI don’t think I changed the palette switcher code. Might actually be a bug in the ROM. Does it show palette 2 every time you open up DoaEditor ?
In other news, it turns out that including the world map, towns, fortresses, caves, etc… there are roughly 4,000 regions in the game 8-O
Which means that editing each one individually is certifiably insane. That said, my plan will probably be to leave Niahak’s map code alone for now (and so that we currently have something that works) and start work on a large map editor where you can edit 5×3 (15) regions at once. This would cut down the number of editable screens to roughly 250. Currently working on finding and labeling the locations of EVERYTHING on the DoaE map to give me an idea of where everything is.

It changes automatically, similar to how the shops changed. I open a rom and voila, its different

ModeratorColors are correct in the rom
7C610 is
0F15360D0F3027020F2A270F0F30270Fbut its not showing up in the game. It’s showing up as ‘green’ in DOAEditor but not in game. Will send you the rom so you can see what’s up, but more than once it has changed my palettes like it changed the shops.
Edit: Fixed, it was a savestae issue.

ModeratorOkay, so I was trying to move Cao Ren and Cao Hong to another castle and I’m trying to figure out how DOAEditor saves the changes that have been done to the sprites. Every time I edit them and try to export, or go to a different tab, their changes have been reset and they don’t save. Is there a save function I’m missing?

Hmm, seems to be working for me. Try changing them then click on another “place” then click back.
