ParticipantStarted this thread for discussion of the Gameboy version of Destiny of an Emperor.
Quick Walkthrough
1. Leave Lou Sang, go west and beat the Yellow Turbans.
2. Go back to Lou Sang and talk to a villager who gives you 50 troops.
3. Go to Youzhou and Eastern Village to recruit Zhang Fei and Guan Yu.
4. Go to Lou Sang and talk to Liu Bei’s mom to swear the oath.
5. Go to Youzhou, enter the castle and talk to the prefect.
6. Attack the checkpoint near Lou Sang and defeat the Turbans.
7. Return to Youzhou and speak to the prefect again.
8. Go through the checkpoint and southwest to Jizhou, and talk to the prefect at the castle there.
9. Cross the bridge east of Jizhou, pass through the gate to the southeast, and attack Xuzhou.

KeymasterSorry for the hassle, I created an entirely new forum for DoaE GB. Not sure if we’ll need it but it makes it less hidden in the future.

ParticipantThanks Lord.
I can’t say I like this incarnation as much, it just seems to lack that Destiny of an Emperor flair, but I guess that’s the price you pay for a Gameboy game.

ParticipantHave you noticed if it is possible to do all out? I haven’t been able to do one yet… (Maybe that’s because I had only Liu Bei…)

ParticipantIt’s weird, it seems like you use bands of soldiers instead of you own health and it doesn’t work indoors.

ParticipantWell, the only thing I’ve been able to do yet are battles with Liu Bei, because I think I got lost, I might restart my game… At least I found a inn.
EDIT: Yay! I’m a SKOB! I’ll be able to finish DOAE3!

ParticipantThis game seems to have fallen by the wayside, so I’m going to try and get some more info. I’ll be starting a new game and checking whether my walkthrough’s accurate.
Some day, I hope to get this and the DOAE3’s on Kongming.net (GameFAQs would be nice, but…) so they can get some more publicity and maybe even some rough translations.

ParticipantAfter messing with the lord at the castle I’m stuck at I’ve discovered that I’ve somehow picked up Zhou Cang, Chen Deng, and Zhao Yun, but I can’t seem to boot Guan Yu or Zhang Fei out of my party.
Here’s what the Lord’s options do:
Choice 1:Storage
Subchoice 1:Deposit
Subchoice 2:Withdraw
Choice 2:Unknown
Choice 3:Party
Subchoice 1:Look at members’ status
Subchoice 2:Change party members?

ParticipantHummm… Just a question like that, at the point where you are, is Liu Bei your party leader, or is it one of the two brothers?

ParticipantStill Liu Bei, the others left for a while but they came back. If I had to guess where I am I’d say somewhere before Chang Ban.
Problem is, all gates have been closed out, the off-color mountain won’t work either, and I can’t enter the other castle in the area. I’ve talked to everyone, several times, but can’t seem to get anywhere.

ParticipantThat’s much of a hassle, but I know you can do it. Hell, you did the whole DOAE3 without any knowledge of the language, so I’m sure you can do this one too!

ParticipantThat’s true…I guess I’ll just level up a little while I look. I’m at level 15 right now.

ParticipantYeah, those enemy levels jump up really quickly, although they aren’t that much harder.
Cao Cao and friends were at level 50, I’m guessing that’s the max level.
Level 16 now.
