InactiveDon't know if this was addressed, but I decided to play with the hidden items, since there seem to be room for 64 of them given their locations are in four different spots and the game only uses 20 (the remaining spaces in the ram AND rom are 00; So for those curious, I'm sure you can add another 44 hidden items to the game… Since, you know, its not like we ever found all of them the first couple times through

ModeratorIf it's not in the guide it's probably not "addressed" yet. Did you try hiding more items? Did it work?

InactiveI hid one new item and worked fine. Let me see if I can upload my first screenshot.

ModeratorCool so you hid that in one of the new slots?

ModeratorArent those referenced to in the item ID table @ 30B13? So that is what all those zeros at 30AE4-30B0F are for those I'm assuming?
It's funny how that kind of stuff is RIGHT THERE, but we never found it! Good discovery :finger:
Now to fill those with all kinds of useless items…

Zhang Song 44 198 180 3110 -*6
*6 These officers are listed for entertainment value, for sake of
completion. Capcom created them, but you cannot fight them.
I thought I heard mention that "Cao Cao" "Sun We" Liu Chan and like someone else wasn't useable, but after throwing myself into about 300 random encounters in Yuan Shao's area to see just how rare some encounters are, I checked back in the Editor to see all Shao's characters and found "Chen Lin" (Not encounterable) so I thought maybe this is a recruit character? I never found him. Wonder if this info is good for you guys too.
*Editing Chen Lin now*
Also I did find that, check this out, if you edit Zhu Ge Jin, that's the red character that comes and tells Liu Bei that Sun Ce was assassinated, lol! Wonder what else might come up strange as I do this…

ModeratorBy checking the "encounter" option, they are encounterable HOWEVER it also has a side effect of removing them from being a sprite in a town.

InactiveAh I was worried that you could end up with two of them.
Well turns out I can't seem to encounter Chen Lin {Officer 34}. [If you change $00AC – $00AF to F0 and freeze their addresses, you will encounter every general available in that area if there are 5 or less, if there are more than five it seems you encounter the top 5. This also causes like every hit to be a critical, every spell to succeed, and every captured enemy to say they only serve their master] I may have to start a new game to see if it's just something I've done, otherwise he might be like the Guo Ji {Officer 12} bug [Cancel your first command and it registers him as dead] or something.-Edit
DoaE had the character set in the New Chapter, Didn't see that. Edited that, finally encountered them. When there is like 15 generals in an area (Yuan Shao) sure does take a while to get the one you're after.
Still curious why general 05 comes back to life after a wipe.
Freezing those addresses does change all NPC's walking paths to straight down, and it doesn't make every general show up all the time but it stays pretty standard for a while. I'm not reccomending it for anything, that's just a little thing I do for some encounter testing when people get raaaaaaare

InactiveIf you put a hidden item in a chest's location, you will collect the chest, not the item.
If you put a hidden item in another hidden item's location, you will collect the last one in the rom file.
I assume the chest takes priority, so with this I will assume:
If you put a chest on a hidden item's location, they will find the chest.
If you put a chest on a chest's location, you will collect the last one in the rom file.
[Tried to put a Saltpepper on the Saltpepper's chest incase it glitched out.]

Trident came up missing.
You know, it would be a pain to run a game with a break command for all those hidden items… But it would definitely point out some things

ModeratorSometimes this happens w/ the Yellow Scarve officers, or even the sword in front of Pang Tong in Ling Ling, or even the infamous dead wood disappearing. Granted, there have been some fixes put out for the wood and halberd disappearing bugs, but the others, pff, they seem to be quite random.

ModeratorAren't those all the "Iron Ore" bug that Meteorstrike found a fix for?
June 26, 2012 at 9:04 pm #40088sonic.penguin
ModeratorI still have issues w/ disappearing stuff, like the 3 yellow turban guys sometimes

Inactivelol the three bothers disappeared on me the other night and I thought I was on drugs. So ya, same game further in it randomized $6690 to $6693 AGAIN for some reason. I've been aware the bug exsisted, but I'm too tired to start the game from scratch with those numbers on watch/break. (6694 and 6695 were my two added in items I believe, but they were so early it didn't bother them)
