If I could figure out how to make the editor work for me I would be happy to make a yellow yurbins mod, I have always wanted one of those.

What!? Zhuge Liang controls even the heavens?
July 4, 2008 at 8:40 pm #28241Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOkay I’ve done a reasonable amount of updating to the Yuan Shu Mod (into the Ji Zhou area, but only up to Nan Yang is fully complete). There may be a few text errors but mention them anyway if you see anything.
Enjoy guys

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 23, 2009 at 6:04 pm #28242Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterHmm for some reason I have the older version of the yuanshumod online. I need to update it with where I was last. I just need to do some things with Wine to get DoaEd and DoaTed working, then I will get some progress done :) Hopefully I have a save reasonably close to where my rom got corrupted, which was basically when Zhuge Liang / Huo Hu joins.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 25, 2009 at 7:36 pm #28243Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOk the last few days I’ve done some run throughs with the Text Editor and the Editor.
1. Characters are being updated as far as stats. One thing I’m paying close attention to is soldier count (more importantly, having some fixed soldier counts and then level-growing soldier counts). This is key in any mod for having an effective roster and giving the player choices. The first few versions I had too many level-growing characters, resulting in some characters not needing to be used. So now some of the lesser characters have higher fixed soldiers going through (Chen Ji, Li Feng, Liang Ji) thus making them a tad more useful, or at least a consideration.
2. Enemies in general are being improved. Lots of small upgrades to weapons and STR / INT for the Dong Zhuo officers for example.
3. Yuan Shu’s normal area (which is taken up by Liu Bei) is filled with more early-Shu soldiers like Chen Deng, Mi Zhe, Zhou Cang, Zhao Lei, Wang Fu, Shang Lang, etc. As opposed to having Guan Xing and Zhang Bao in there since they don’t come around for a while. I’ll save them for later, after Yuan Shu takes out their daddy’s huohu
4. Yuan Shao’s area will be an extension of this Shu area, with the battle at Ji Zhou (now Ping Yuan) being against Guan Yu and Liu Bei (if you let Liu Bei live).
5. I’m turning Jingzhou into a Yuan Shu alliance with Liu Xun against Wu (primarily the Sun Ce / Zhou Yu era). Think DW4 Jiang Dong, with the supply camp, etc. Liu Xun takes Ma Liang’s place and I think I have Yang Hong in Ma Xu’s place. It’d be neat if someone knew more about Liu Xun’s army, I could put someone else in Yi Ji’s spot.
This is all for now. After I get through a bit farther in this version to ensure it is not bugged, I will update this. Probably sometime later today.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 27, 2009 at 10:13 pm #28246NiahakModeratorDoes Yuan Shao have soldier growth, or does he just have a pretty low soldier count for that point in the game? Pang Tong is pretty hefty for when you can recruit him, but 1185 makes Shao pretty weak in comparison (aside from the balanced stats).
February 28, 2009 at 4:00 am #28247Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterHe indeed has soldier growth this time. The first version he had a static 1449 soldiers so he will be more use in this one. After Yuan Yin Ji Ling and Zhang Xun, Yuan Shu’s force is pretty thin. So having Yuan Shao and other random options (Liu Xun, Liang Gang, Lei Bo, etc) provides for some flexibility.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 28, 2009 at 6:09 pm #28249Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterFor some reason I went ahead and did Jingzhou before I had Yuan Shao’s section finished. Some parts of Jingzhou are done already but I need to touch up a lot of the earlier battles.

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingFebruary 28, 2009 at 11:32 pm #28250Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterOk, finished halfway through the ‘Shu’ section.
I’ve split it up to have Liu Zheng and some Liu Bei remnants at the end by Cheng Dou. The earlier part is with Zhang Lu ‘capturing’ Liu Zheng at Fu Shui (which is now Han Zhong). The Zhang Lu battle with Zhang Wei and Yuan Pu is quite fun. The battle before is even cooler – check it out.
After this though, I have Lu Bu at Luo Castle with Yang Feng and Zhang Liao.
Yang Feng is there as someone who has joined Yuan Shu in the past, plus I think he served Lu Bu? Typical strong but dumb character, though his high soldier count makes him usable once he joins (much like Ma Dai at this point in the normal DoaE, except a lot lower in the INT category).
Lu Bu joins with normal soldier increases at each level. I forgot to make him un an sha-able, but I’ll do that. Lu Bu still fights you as you enter Shu, but I changed the text to just make him retreat instead of die.
The battle before that is Chen Gong and Gao Shun instead of Huang Quan and Leng Bao (gate before Luo Castle).

Huo Hu's Adventure started Destiny of an Emperor hackingMarch 1, 2009 at 4:01 am #28251NiahakModeratorYang Feng served several people – I believe he served Li Jue / Guo Si, then betrayed them and aided the emperor for a while (during his escape from LJ/GS), turned to Yuan Shu briefly when Cao Cao took the emperor, then was driven out and became a bandit. He was hunted down and killed by somebody (Liu Bei, I think). Yang Feng seemed to me to be the kind of guy who can never catch a break.
I have to ask, though – what kind of stats does Yang Song have? And how much did Zhang Lu have to bribe him to command the defense?
March 1, 2009 at 4:19 am #28252Lord Yuan ShuKeymasterYea that gate battle before Fu Shui / Han Zhong Castle is a joke. Yang Song has 75 STR 81 INT but I think I gave him a Scimitar or something so he still takes off a few hundred. Not quite as inept as Liu Chan maxing out at 5 damage.
Yang Feng indeed had it rough. He’s getting some love in this mod, so that should make him happy.
By the way, just finished up the end of Shu. Mian Zhu Guan (Li Yan / Liu Ba / Liu Xun) turns into the Ma Chao / Ma Dai / Pang De battle. Only the gate and Cheng Du have Liu Zheng-type officers, but the best ones are used so Cheng Du is a bit hard.
Yuan Yin and Lu Fan leave for good this time, no body doubles. It’s hard giving up Yuan Yin since he’s so good overall, but it will open up the game for other options.
Yuan Xiang (90-205) and Qiao Rui (187-100) take their place. I put them around 5000 soldiers so they have some use. Again, I find the key to balancing a party is having the lesser members have a nice soldier advantage to act as a meatshield until the more skilled characters level up (or until you find better officers).
I’m finishing up the Jing Zhou retake-over. Instead of it being Wu I’m having the Shu remnants take over Wu Ling and Ling Ling. Zhao Yun / Zhao Tong at Wu Ling and Huang Zhong / Wei Yan at Ling Ling.
