ParticipantThere should be a little box in the lower-right of the Primer with your Clan Rank and Points. Riskbreaker (another VS reference) is after 18 Marks.

Keymasterafter 18 marks? I have 17 completed and I’m a riskbreaker evidently…514335 points…Maybe it’s decided by points? Or by certain ranks of Hunts you’ve beat (like rank 5 is weighted more than those lower than it)?

ModeratorYou increase in rank if you have the right amount of hunts completed and the right amount of points. I.e. 14 marks and 50,000 points (or some such).
You get points from just killing normal enemies, so they’re a lot easier to get.
You can check to see how much of each you need by talking to the guy in the far corner of the 2nd floor of the Clan Hall.
I’m at Riskbreaker too (unsure how many marks), but I’m working on that.
It’d be going faster if it weren’t for two of my roommates also playing the game.
I didn’t even notice you get special stuff to buy at the bazaar merchant (Faith, Brave, Bubble – really great magic) until a few hours ago gameplay-wise.

ParticipantThat guy will also give you hints about where to find some of the higher level Marks.
Also, I beat Queklain. It was a really hard match though, that constant-Sap effect is quite the difficulty barrier. I advise you to use Black Belts so you don’t get Disabled.

ParticipantAnd I suppose Regen dosn’t work to remove the barrier? If it’s an area like that, probably not. (But a normal HP sap CAN be removed with Regen.)

ParticipantNo, the area effect is seperate from Sap, so Regen wouldn’t work. It’s what makes the fight so difficult.

KeymasterSo in Sochen, is this Pilgrim door a boss later on I assume? Also, is there a way to traverse the waterfalls blocking certain paths at this point in time?

ParticipantI didn’t go through it yet so I can’t say. I think there is some special treasure after the puzzle though.

ParticipantI’m currently trying to hunt Antlion. Story based, I’m at Mt-Bur Ominase, just after getting there from Paramina Rift. Vaan is at level 43, Ashe at 37, Penelo at 37, I have Larsa, who is level 40. All other characters are level 28. Any suggestions? I’m stuck with doing this one.
(The reason I was there is to get the Gengi equipment from Gilgamesh ASAP)

ParticipantI waited until later and used magic on the Mantis’s. You could probably use Quickenings to wipe them out. Having the Zodiac Spear helps.
You could just steal from the first Gilgamesh battle and come back later. I think the Gengi Gloves are the only Gengi gear that isn’t surpassed by a later item.
Battle on the Big Bridge = best Final Fantasy music ever.

KeymasterWhat’s the best place to build up levels?

ParticipantIt depends at what place of the game you are. personally, early on it was in the Lhusu Mines, at the place where there’s only skeletons. I just build up my chain +30, go two areas away by fleeing, then come back. Build your chain until it gets to 210, that way, not only you’ll get good XP, but you can sell great loot! (On average after 1 trip like that, I have 99 Bone fragments (193 Gil each), 75 Darkstones (35 Gil each), 99 Antidotes (I don’t sell them… maybe I should for 50 Gil each of 25, can’t remember…) and about 14 Iron Helms (700 Gil each!).) This is a great way to get easy levels, LP and gil early on!
Later on I don’t know, I’m only at the part of going to the Stillshrine of Mariam right now…

ParticipantThe southernmost area of Golmore Jungle is good. Kill all the enemies and Skeletons start spawning everywhere. You can rack up a huge chain on them. Eventually they all die though, so you have to leave and come back.
