ModeratorEssentially, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei would have the power of Lu Bu (due to some weapon changes I made) which would make them hit crushing hits of 20,000 without Zeal… which with a zeal would be almost insta-kills even without a critical hit, and if they hit more than once, it'd be all over… not to mention the other 3 guys heh. Thus, I decided to change it, and its also why I didnt give those guys on the bridge a zeal effect as well. The ambush I felt would add more of that "random" element and would give it a distinct challenge that was different from the rest of the battles, especially since it kinds of acts as the final one of the mod.
I believe they all should have had thwart, but maybe you got lucky and they didnt use it. Anyone w/ over 250 (or maybe 253) should have it.
It mustve been really hard using only those stock guys to win, but I tknow it is doable. Granted, having those souped-up officers would have helped probably :)

ModeratorYeah, I found that to make the game more challenging with this new damage code and extra soldier levels up (about 10-15000 more troops than the original) that some weapons needed to be modified to make officers more "dangerous".
Well, other than that cave that was open, I'm glad there werent any major game-breakers in the game. it'd be a shame for something like that to have crept in. I hope to be careful enough where I wouldn't have to do major revision like Rise of Lu Bu, granted, ROLB is now a much more finished product now as well

ModeratorHey Zhuge, did you ever finish this?
June 1, 2012 at 5:22 am #41968Zhuge Liang
ParticipantI could have ended it sooner but something in real life bothered me and I couldn't keep things proceed as I wanted. I just started again recently and got the Iron Ore and plan on training my party to get some levels before going on. I think I'll finish it soon. Wait for my report.
DoaE gave birth to Huo Hu.

ParticipantJust out of curiousity if I play this version and you update it somewhere down the line, will updating my version erase my saves?
June 21, 2012 at 12:55 pm #41970sonic.penguin
Moderatoryes, as long as you retain the same file name, but don't expect any updates soon unless someone finds a game breaking bug.
June 21, 2012 at 5:37 pm #41971ZyloWolfBane
ParticipantMaybe I misunderstood, are you saying it WILL erase them if I keep the same file name or it WONT as long as I keep the same file name?
Just making sure, luckly I'm still struggling with the Lu Bu mod so it'll be awhile before I play this one lol.

ModeratorYour game WILL be saved if you overwrite it w/ a new version. Just as long as you keep the same file name

ParticipantAwesome!
Thats good to hear, eventually I'll get through the Lu Bu mod and go straight into that one, but I'm stuck at the moment.

ModeratorSaw your surprise fight vs. Kotaro…
Looks like things arent going so well vs. Nobunaga either >_>

ParticipantHaha, indeed not, those 3-6 attack rotations by each general just had me totally floored.
I'll get it though!
I have to ask, whats the difference between this mod and the Lu Bu mod when you came up with the tactics system?
I came into the Ieyasu mod thinking that generals were restricted to certain tactics since some of the people I recruited didnt show tactics on their status screens, but during combat everyone has access to all of the tactics that my other people learned.
Is that intended?

ModeratorWell, the Rise of Lu Bu was my first mod and was a prototype for some of the new code implemented. As a consequence, i was unable to code in the 8 tactics system due to some game breaking side effects…
So, I implemented the individualized tactics code. Rise of Ieyasu is more like the original DOAE in regards to how tactics are learned/used by the tactician, HOWEVER, the Rise of Ieyasu mod uses the agility-based attack battle system that increases the number of hits based off of the differences between officer agility and also implements the 8-tactic system with the life/raise tactics created by our very own Midknight.
Aka, the skill Vigor becomes extremely valuable as opposed to the original "Haste/Qi Shou" skill.
Hope this helps, and happy playing :finger:
June 25, 2012 at 3:15 am #41977ZyloWolfBane
ParticipantHaha, yeah it dawned on me that I should try using vigor to see if it would help but unfortunately it did nothing.
Probably because Nobunaga already used it so it made us equal, but it didnt stop them from hitting me 4+ times either, I'll just have to keep trying lol.
I'm probably gonna hate the answer to this but does raise scale as the game goes on and provide a full heal upon revival the whole way through the game or just in the beginning?
If its the former I definitely foresee a few hairpulling moments :smoke:
