ModeratorHelmets are normally black back then, especially in DoaE3. Let's see…
Lu Meng has a red helmet.
Liu Bei's helmet is hard to tell, but it looks red.
Yuan Shao's helmet is red.
Zhou Yu's helmet is red.
Everyone else — including every generic in the game — has either a black helmet or no helmet.

ModeratorAm stuck atm with where to go after Chi Bi… I'm leaning towards an invasion of Wei and leaving Shu for the end since every other mod always ends w/ Wei.

ModeratorNiahak, I think I found why the guy that sells keys is rather buggy… there seems to be some kind of micro text bank wedged inbetween some other stuff, perhaps that is why it is not checking whether or not it is overflowing?
When putting in battle dialogs I found it to be something like dialog, battle data, a few bits set for dialog, more battle data

ModeratorHey Atma, want to help me make some new portraits? or sprites? Maybe we should keep spamming MidKnight for some… It's taking me about 1-2 hrs for each portrait so I could really use some help from the paint master himself… Maybe I could recruit shifter420 for some :unibrow:

ParticipantGosh, if we are enlisting sprite and portrait help… I'd like some! lol… I'm reading through the guide, but it all seems foreign to me…

Moderatorportraits I've got down, its just that the last time I tried creating sprites I wound up botching all kinds of stuff up, heh. So anyone that has more experience than me or that would just like to give it a whirl they've got my support

ModeratorInstructions for creating more sprites are in the guide. Hopefully somebody has the time and patience to make some more. Unfortunately I don't right now :)

ModeratorCurses! Ah well, maybe I'll try and whip something up here if I get time to read the guide to sprites more in-depth.
Quote:if i knew how to use any decent paint programs i'd love to :lol:I worked ALL of my Rise of Ieyasu pictures in Paint. Yes, just paint. So it's not like you need something crazy like Photoshop. Irfanview can really help converting everything to the proper colors @ the end.
Quote:BTW, Jiang Wei looks really fair…still don't get this one, heh, fair skinned, fair as in fair ho-hum, or fair as in let's grab some popcorn @ the fair!

ModeratorQuote:I worked ALL of my Rise of Ieyasu pictures in Paint. Yes, just paint. So it's not like you need something crazy like Photoshop.Did you make them from scratch or start with a pic/template from somewhere?

ModeratorFor most of the Rise of Ieyasu pictures, I used portrait templates from Nobunagas Ambition Lord of Darkness. Granted, I had to reduce the colors to 4, recoloring everything by hand pixel by pixel in order for them to look right substituting the SNES colors w/ colors that looked right w/ DOAE, then I had to invert colors where I wanted background colors to show through (IE, make them white). Just simply reducing colors w/ irfanview made them look like crap, so thats why the long process of hand-touching each one, but now I'm just drawing the portraits from scratch completely.
I'm using the portraits from ROTK6 for inspiration now. Those are too high res to look like anything once they're reduced and recolored ( they just look like blobs!) So it's becoming pretty intensive to make new stuff. There is a somewhat obvious style difference between the two, but I hope they're both satisfactory. A big move from the old style of DOAE and some of this other stuff where the old DOAE portraits were recolored…
Other way: nice pink beard though for Yan Yan :) I've really gotta try some of these other mods.
