ModeratorTried it with a debugger. Don't see any problems with the code so far. Gonna have to trace it to see what's happening.
EDIT: After tracing I see that with a good sprite it starts reading from $8080 which is on the ROM page but in the bad case it's reading from $0200 which is in memory. Looks like those values are coming from $00. Tracking it down…

ModeratorHeh, yeah, it turned out not to be as bad as I thought, once you get the basics down w/ direction and colors, it was easy to use either photoshop or paint. I can do it all from memory now w/ addresses to sprite direction from memory, so it just takes a little bit of getting down and dirty. It's actually quite fun creating the sprites and making them fit together, knowing that I'm the one who gave Sima Yi his butt :P

ModeratorYou mean 1D? Hmm, after putting sprites on 0x74090 now getting garbled gfx for the sprites @ 0x70090 aka 1C… should I not put sprites on 0x74090?

ParticipantSonic, a couple of questions for ya… first of all, would you mind if used any of these sprites in my mod? (if you do happen to mind, the rest of the questions are null and void) Secondly, are these in a file? Thirdly, how might I go about putting them into my mod? Lastly, do they show up in the DoaEditor so I know which one is looking like what without going into the game and trying it out?

ModeratorHere are the sprites, its fine if you want to use them, however, they are not yet complete, but I've got some awesome additions like Huang Zhong, Zhang Fei, Sima Yi and more!
You can use the process that is described in the romhacking guide, but if you're having major issues, like I did, I can always just upload them for you if you send me your rom. (midknight did this for me back in the day when i had issues w/ the feidian process, ah the memories…) but really, it would be 'who' of you to really learn the fedian process as it gives you so much more freedom with GFX
once you have feidian and php ready to go and in a file of your C: drive, just go to your windows command prompt, type cdphp [press enter] then type
php feidian.php -ci nes8,1,1008,0×74090 newsprites2.bmp nameofyourfile.nes
your file + the newsprites2.bmp MUST be in the same folder as php and feidian
No, they wont show up in DOAEditor, you will to use the names only as we dont have previews. Direct reading from the rom would be Niahaks dept. Starting @ 01 and down are my new sprites, the ones w/ 2 @ the end are MiDKnightS, you'll know when you run out of sprites as they will be colored boxes in game. FYI you might need to decrease color depth twice in irfanview and resave the file. Do this:
A. go into the folder w/ doaeditor
B. open up the tables folder
C. open spritetable
D. Copy the following over everything

ModeratorUpdated the guide with the new sprite code. Will do the IPS patch next and make it so that the IPS patch doesn't mess up custom tactics.

ModeratorHey cabalpapa another option to get the new sprites is to apply the latest IPS patch from the guide. But that will also give you a bunch of other extra enhancements.
