Lord Yuan Shu
KeymasterYea Jia Xu is long overdue. Can't wait to use him in Wan Castle vs. Cao Cao, with Zhang Xiu. Having another officer on Dong Zhuo's forces can't hurt either.
Xiahou Ba, not a fan. His armour looks grand but they've made too many with basically the same armor. And his face, oh his face. Just terrible. Xiahou Ba was always one of the more 'rough' looking generic types in most DW games and he just looks like a little kid in this. Fail. But that's just aesthetically I do understand he'll have some value being in Jin / Shu / Wei.
Have I not posted Xiahou Dun yet? That must have been an oversight because he was one of the original 8 released.

ModeratorWell, he was posted in the orioginally face-only pic, but…
And by the end of Shu, there were only a handful of noteworthy people left there — Jiang Wei, Xiahou Ba, Liao Hua, maybe Zhuge Shang, maybe Zhuge Zhan, and maybe Liu Chen (not to be confused with Liu Chan!).
They really should add Liao Hua; if they go by the novel, he served Shu for 63 years (!), and even if they go by real life, he still served Shu for at least 44 years.

KeymasterQuote:Well, he was posted in the orioginally face-only pic, but…Yea I guess I did forget to post those characters in full-body form.
Quote:And by the end of Shu, there were only a handful of noteworthy people left there — Jiang Wei, Xiahou Ba, Liao Hua, maybe Zhuge Shang, maybe Zhuge Zhan, and maybe Liu Chen (not to be confused with Liu Chan!).This was one of my issues going forward past Wu Zhang Plains. In the books Shu never struck me as competitive after that point, and Wu never really had an effective attack on Wei / Jin either later on. So it just felt like a Jin squash to me.
Another thing is there are a ton of Jin characters but I don't see as many Wu and Shu that can be used later on. Or maybe they're planning on taking some liberties with some of their characters (maybe Huang Zhong fighting in 264 lol?)
Liao Hua seems like a good addition for longevity-sake. But he was always a weak, borderline-generic character in RTK's. So it seems kind of strange to me we've gotten to the point where we're adding types like that. I guess he was more useful for Shu later on and not such a marginal character so like you say it'd be nice for Shu to have some more characters for later on use.

ModeratorBorderline or not, Liao Hua had what it took to survive year after year and (most likely) served on the border, not hiding in Chengdu. Besides, if he's not the third unique shubie for the early 260's, who would you choose? Liu Shan? Huang Hao? :retard:

KeymasterYea that's what I was getting at though. Shu never seemed to have a formidable roster later on in the Liu Chan days. I guess that's a good reason for creating fictional females like Bao Xianning, to have them battle for Shu later on so that the battles are more even. Liao Hua could be used with the Turbans too right? I vaguely remember him being tied to them but I'm thinking his participation was minimal.
Dynasty Warriors 7 official site has added the Shu theme, and many bios / pictures to the website as well.

KeymasterIt's amazing to me how similar Yuan Shao looks to the DW6 design. I kind of liked it but I think the more traditional Yuan Shao from 3 and 4 was better; he's such a buffoon in 6.
Zhang Jiao looks pretty cool, have to admit. Crazy bald dude.
Zhang Liao I like but his mustache looks too funny.
Taishi Ci looks like some sort of animal with the feather thing but at least he has his twin rods back.

ParticipantI thought I remembered reading the bios on the DW games (DW3 I believe it was) and seeing that the Liao Hua for Shu is a different person from the Liao Hua that was with the Yellow Turbans. There was also a different date shown for birth and death between the two.

ModeratorAccording to the novel, Liao Hua lived for 90 or 91 years (and, as such, was in both the turbans and the fall of Shu).
Records only put him as "70+"… but do recognize that he joined Shu under Guan Yu and was still around when it fell.
Speaking of which, Wu was crazy enough to have two Ding Fengs who were brothers; the main one (who, IIRC, lived to his 80's) was a minor officer until the 220s (and, as such, will probably get assigned some fictional pre-220s events)… even though RoTK2 has him playable at least as early as 194!

KeymasterThe Ding Feng thing confused me up until Dynasty Warriors 6 when I saw two Ding Feng's in one battle. And I asked why they had Ding Feng in the battle twice, and people told me they are two different people.
Well Liao Hua would be versatile then staying alive until almost 100 years old. Maybe they make him an old looking character like Huang Zhong.
When you consider how many characters have not been released yet, there still should be a few more releases like this. At least 2, maybe 3. And they usually show a new character or two. Should be interesting, they still have Lu Bu, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu to show.

ModeratorMaybe they'll finally get around to multiple faces (and in one case, eyepatch/no eyepatch) like they did for RotK XI.

ParticipantOne thing I never understood was the female characters going out into battle in high-heels. Now, I'm not a female but I imagine it would be one hell of a fight just trying to run in the dirt and mud when most of my weight was being forced onto a small point. What would happen if they broke a heel? Go through battle barefoot?

ParticipantIt's Dynasty Warriors, what do you expect. :P
Well, I like Yue Ying. It sort of makes up for the "DW5 Zhen Ji. Huo Hu created." >_>

KeymasterQuote:It sort of makes up for the "DW5 Zhen Ji. Huo Hu created." >_>I guess Huo Hu didn't approve of it.
As for the women in high heels, it has always been a little silly. But the fact they are out there at all is what sticks out to me so I guess I ignore the shoes lol.
