Editing text is a real pain, because they use a dictionary in DOAE.
Lots of these are 2-letter words with appropriate spacing, like "is ", "he ", "it ", but some are multi-letter ("civilization " for example).
If I figured out the dictionary, it might be possible to edit some… but pirate-talk might be out of the question.
I am far too impatient! I didn’t plan on sleeping tonight anyway. :D
Introducing the Destiny of an Emperor – What Really Happened patch!

– Huo Hu is Super Lord Huo Hu. He is very cool indeed.
– Most ‘loser’ characters level-up normally now. This even includes the likes of Liu Feng and Guan Ping, just in case we wanted to include them in some sort of game adventure.
– Tiger Generals have not been altered.
– I went through and edited many elements of the game specifically to make it more challenging. In some areas nothing was changed, in some areas many things were tweaked, and in other cases drastic changes were applied. Some officers which should be cool have been made cool, for example. I also added in a few jokes.
– The game will be much more challenging now!
– I’ve included some secret goodies.

And please let me know if you have any suggestions or see any problems. I created this whole thing over the past three hours or so. Even as I went to post it here I twice thought of last-minute changes I wanted to make.

Text Editing
I was thinking about changing various text — such as officer names. Is there any way, Niahak, to add data to one of those strings? I could not figure out how I would add characters to an existing officer name.
Challenge Suggestion
How about this?
Idea 1:
Complete the game using Song Yong, Song Ren, Chen Deng, Mi Zhe, and Huo Hu only. Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and Liu Bei may be used only so long as you have room in your party for them.
Idea 2:
Complete the game using any of the following characters: Song Yong, Song Ren, Chen Deng, Mi Zhe, Liu Feng, Yang Jin, Zhou Chao (or whatever his name is), Guan Ping (?), and Zhou Cang. Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and Liu Bei may be used only so long as you have room in your party for them.

So what are the exact details on number 1? Basically kill off everyone once you take over Qing Zhou so you can use the base 5?
Well I’m at Zhang Jao already and I can tell you’ve messed with the Soldier counts and AP with the Zhang bro’s.

I’m on my iPhone, so time for multiple posts! No copy/paste. I originally made his intelligence higher, but I dropped it so as not to devalue fellows like Xu Zhe and cheapen the game difficulty. I could raise his strength, though. He could be l33t around 220 or 230. We’ll see how hard things are. He’s fast, too, so that already makes him a good officer.
I just got Huo Hu. What a stud.
I can tell Chang An is going to be tough after seeing Jia Xu and his 500+ soldiers (and now 180 STR).
Wang Gui didn’t appear at Luo Yang! Wang Gui and Zhou Chao tend to sometimes not be at their location (in fact Zhou Chao tends to not be there more often than not).

Adding characters to an existing officer name would be messy at best. Adding any characters would mean moving everything after that forward one character… spilling into the next guy’s area, etc, etc.
Modifying the text while keeping the same amount of characters wouldn’t be a problem, though.

Yeah, the major battles will all be a bit more difficult now
I’m stuck at the Yuan Shu battle.
I say stick with the base group. You made Huo Hu pretty damn awesome. Chen Deng and Mi Zhe can contribute with their INT, and Chen Deng’s STR is passable I guess. And it’s fun giving the Song’s Spears and seeing them do 10-20 damage.
